Job Summary: The 5-Axis CNC Programmer will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and continuously improving CNC programs and associated documentation related to 3 & 5-Axis machining for complex aerospace, defense, and motorsports industry parts. The Programmer will work with the Machining Manager to ensure parts meet FWC's manufacturing standards. The Programmer will monitor the quality of the first article parts by detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, and adjusting and reprogramming control while adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes. The programmer will utilize their technical expertise to work within the team to develop and implement machining and manufacturing processes to meet engineering requirements. The Programmer will be required to take ownership of these processes from program conception to completion. Job Role: Develop 3 & 5-Axis CNC programs for machining complex aerospace and motorsport industry parts in a variety of materials including, but not limited to, alloy steels, stainless steels, aluminium, tooling boards, and composites. Create a complete work package consisting of CNC programs, machining operation setup sheets, tool lists, and other related documentation for use by a machinist. Analyze engineering drawings and required specifications to develop CNC program and process flow to meet drawing requirements. Utilize program verification and crash protection software to mitigate machine incidents. Work with manufacturing engineering and machinists to develop manufacturing processes, including detailed work instructions, manufacturing sketches/drawings, and other shop floor documentation. Assist in developing manufacturing fixturing and tooling. Provide shop floor support to resolve technical and manufacturing issues. Work with manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, and manufacturing groups to utilize root cause analysis and corrective action plans to reduce/eliminate non-conformances. Analyze and evaluate manufacturing methods to provide solutions that positively affect cost, operator safety, productivity, and quality. Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives. Prioritize programs to meet the schedule demands. Seek out the development of modern cutting techniques, tooling, etc., in conjunction with the Machining Supervisor to increase efficiencies. Record time and materials to Work Orders. Analyze Work Orders and perform the necessary actions to meet scheduling demands. Assure quality and production requirements meet the engineering drawing tolerances. Other duties as assigned Maintain positive team relationships with co-workers and customers. Must adhere to health and safety procedures, and all workplace policies. What You Will Bring to the Team: A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach. Working knowledge of CNC Machining/Programming, G and M codes. Ability to read and comprehend manuals, work instructions, and SDS sheets common to a machining/production environment. Ability to comprehend and manipulate CAD in a 3-dimensional work environment. Ability to work independently and within a team, prioritize tasks, and establish routines. Must be capable of performing and communicating in a collaborative engineering environment, closely working with multi-disciplinary teams. Demonstrate effective communication, initiation, and leadership skills. Self-directed with a team-oriented mentality. Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot during new process development yet adhere to procedure with established processes. Considerable knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials, methods, and standard practices of the trade. Needs to have a strong appreciation of the importance of completing tasks on time. Must be adaptable to a changing work environment and completing demands. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. High School Diploma or Equivalency 5 years as a machinist, preferably in aerospace or mold making. Additional five years of proven experience in CNC programming, Mastercam preferred. Experience with Fidia, Fagor, and Siemens 840D controls is a bonus. Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings Computer savvy with a basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM Extensive knowledge of machine maintenance and operation required Mechanical aptitude and good math skills Perform precise calculations, which requires a working knowledge of trigonometry, geometry, and basic math Perform frequent inspections and troubleshoot machines and parts Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
