The Estimator will play a key role in our preconstruction process, responsible for accurately preparing cost estimates for public sector construction projects. This role requires someone with experience in public works and a deep understanding of construction costs, budgeting, and procurement procedures.

Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for public sector construction projects, including municipal buildings, schools, infrastructure, and other government projects.
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and contracts to prepare comprehensive estimates.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing information.
- Develop bid proposals, ensuring compliance with all public sector requirements and regulations.
- Review and assess subcontractor and vendor quotes, and ensure inclusivity and accuracy in estimates.
- Assist in preparing and submitting bid packages for competitive bidding processes.
- Monitor changes in project scope and pricing, ensuring that cost adjustments are accurately reflected and communicated.
- Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure that estimates align with project goals, timelines, and budgets.
- Review historical data and perform cost analysis to ensure estimates are based on market trends and current labor/material costs.
- Maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and other key stakeholders in the industry.
- Participate in project meetings to offer expertise on cost management and feasibility.
Profile
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Estimator, with a strong background in public construction projects (municipal buildings, schools, infrastructure, etc.).
- In-depth knowledge of public bidding processes, government procurement procedures, and relevant codes and regulations.
- Experience with estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Buildertrend, or similar tools).
- Strong understanding of construction costs, material take-offs, labor rates, and subcontractor pricing.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, project specifications, and contracts.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field is preferred, but not required.
- OSHA 30-hour certification is a plus.
