This role requires a deep understanding of cost management, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally, identifying cost-saving opportunities and maintaining accurate financial data. The ideal candidate will support audits, stay informed on industry trends, and continuously refine strategies to improve cost management. This role also includes designing and overseeing cost-effective data accumulation systems, while delivering management with insightful cost analysis. You'll work closely with senior leadership, providing strategic support on special accounting projects, reporting directly to the Accounting Manager and Business Unit Leader.This is a contract-to-hire position to ensure match & satisfaction both with our team and for your career. Core Responsibilities: Analyze and report on actual manufacturing costs, comparing them against standard costs to evaluate performance. Develop and maintain an advanced cost accounting system, ensuring the accuracy of records and documentation. Track and assess costs related to business activities, including raw material purchases, inventory, and labor expenses. Support month-end close procedures, preparing necessary journal entries. Collaborate with operations teams to analyze variances and resolve discrepancies. Participate in the annual budgeting process, contributing cost data and financial insights. Conduct cost audits, offering comprehensive reports that drive decision-making. Prepare detailed reports that compare and analyze factors influencing product pricing and profitability. Update standard costs in bills of materials regularly. Lead month-end and year-end closing activities tied to cost accounting. Maintain detailed records of inventory, production costs, and overhead. Audit cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy within ERP systems. Propose and implement process improvements to enhance financial accuracy and operational efficiency. Work alongside engineering and production teams to ensure product costs align with overall business objectives. Ensure compliance with corporate policies, regulatory standards, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Participate in cross-functional initiatives to drive cost efficiency and overall financial performance. Provide documentation and support for internal and external audits. Continuously update and refine cost accounting procedures.Required Qualifications: 3-5 years of experience in cost accounting. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a closely related field is required. In-depth knowledge of cost accounting principles, general accounting practices, financial analysis, and reporting. Advanced understanding of GAAP, financial regulations, and industry best practices. Excellent skills in financial analysis, budgeting, and banking processes. Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization, as well as external partners. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
