Our client, a long-standing non-profit organization based in Stamford, CT, is seeking a Finance Assistant/Bookkeeper to join their team. For over 50 years, this organization has been providing direct care and daily living skills programs to individuals in Stamford and the surrounding communities.The Finance Assistant/Bookkeeper is responsible for a variety of administrative and financial tasks to support the efficient operation of the Finance Department.
WHAT YOULL *****
Deposit all checks received into the operating account
Maintain daily cash flow
Reconcile all bank accounts for the organization, including individual representative payee accounts
Prepare detailed analyses and reconciliations of general ledger accounts and balance sheet accounts
Complete retirement fund transactions for payroll contributions, loan payments, year-end testing and contributions, etc.
Post transactions into the general ledger
Assist the Director of Finance in preparing and analyzing required reports for the state
Assist with the annual financial audit process
Contribute to the preparation of monthly financial statements
Participate in the interviewing and training of the Accounting Supervisor and Finance Assistant
Maintain working knowledge of other positions in the department to provide coverage as needed
Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to management on cost-saving opportunities and process improvements
Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
Support the month-end and year-end close processes
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING *****
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
2-3 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting
Strong attention to detail and reconciliation skills
Proficient in using financial software and spreadsheets
Ability to work collaboratively and communicate financial information effectively
