We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join American Tower's Technical Transaction Group (TTG). TTG is responsible for performing, analyzing, and reporting on complex transactions for internal customers across the globe. Day to day you will focus on analyzing the financial aspects of the Company's leases and its related assets, liabilities and properly recording the Company's straight-line in the general ledger.
The Senior Accountant will obtain appropriate supporting documentation, partner cross-functionally and lead contract-related projects and audits in accordance with the company policies and relevant GAAP guidance. The incumbent will analyze requests to change terms of existing contracts and support internal customers with post-revision financial information in accordance with internal guidelines. The Senior Accountant will be able to understand and interpret high volumes of lease data and be able to summarize into a value-added analysis and financial close deliverables. Additionally, the incumbent will prepare journal entries, reports, and financial presentations by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing contract information to support external reporting requirements as well as local management requirements and reporting needs. What You Can Offer Us
Perform monthly financial close activities for units with over $3 billion in annual revenue including:
Own preforming analyses of profit and loss accounts for U.S. operations;
Own preforming balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring transactions are reported properly to support REIT and securitization reporting; and
Maintain internal control documentation, checklists, and audits to comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
Coordinate across the organization to understand unusual financial transactions and determine proper accounting treatment.
Resolve accounting discrepancies to prevent control deficiencies and data to support SEC reporting requirements.
Identify and recommend systems optimization opportunities and process improvements; implement approved changes.
Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with GAAP and internal policies and procedures.
Review budget v. forecast analyses and trends; produce monthly operating reports.
Other duties as assigned.
What You Need to Succeed
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA and/or master's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of accounting or finance experience required; 3 or more years preferred.
Experience with Oracle Financials strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of GAAP with the ability with little or no supervision to make independent judgments while applying GAAP to standard business transactions.
Approximately 5% travel will be required in support of the position's responsibilities.
Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.
Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results.
Strong organizational skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment.
