Job Overview
As the Senior Manager Revenue Accounting, you will oversee all aspects of revenue accounting functions including, contract review, revenue recognition, revenue related processes and controls, and revenue systems, while ensuring timely and accurate revenue reporting. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive operational efficiencies and ensure the revenue function can support the company's growth and financial objectives.

This role reports to the Director, Revenue and Billing and can be considered for remote work in an approved state.

Job Description and Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the revenue recognition process in accordance with ASC 606 and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Manage the contract review process, ensuring revenue is recognized in accordance with GAAP and revenue accounting policies are applied consistently.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Billing, Product, Revenue Operations, Sales, and Legal teams on new products, initiatives, contract review, deal structuring - assessing impacts to revenue recognition, operational scalability, and business risk.
  • Manage the month-end revenue close process including reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations and performing analytical review and fluctuation analysis on revenue to support accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Participate in financial close review meetings, delivering results and key metrics to business leaders.
  • Maintain revenue accounting policies and procedures to ensure they reflect best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure internal controls for revenue accounting are adequate and operating effectively.
  • Provide thought leadership on revenue processes, policies, and procedures that leverage technology, maximize efficiency, and provide scalability to support company growth.
  • Assist with the setup/maintenance/enhancement of revenue accounting systems, ensuring they meet business needs, internal control requirements, and accounting standards.
  • Manage periodic stand-alone selling price analysis.
  • Oversee Current Expected Credit Losses (CECL) methodology.
  • Lead or assist with research and preparation of revenue related technical accounting memos and position papers.
  • Assist with preparation and review of revenue-related schedules, financial statements, and disclosures for internal and external reporting purposes.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development for the Revenue team.
  • Participate in special projects, initiatives, and ad hoc requests related to revenue accounting.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience, CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience with a focus on revenue recognition with at least 4 years in a people manager role.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, ASC 606, and revenue recognition principles.
  • Prior experience in a high-growth SaaS, software, or technology-related company is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and revenue management software and tools, preferably experience with Salesforce, Sage Intacct, Zuora or similar application.
  • History of development of process improvements and internal controls implementation and management, familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and documentation.
  • Highly organized detail-oriented with experience managing multiple priorities, large-scale projects, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience leading, coaching and developing a team in a rapid growth environment.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.

This position is eligible for total compensation which includes a competitive base salary, an annual performance bonus, and long-term incentives.

The expected salary range for this role is between following values:
$126,000 and $190,000

The final offered salary will be based on several factors, including but not limited to the candidate's depth of experience, skill set, qualifications, and internal pay equity. Hiring at the top end of the range would not be typical, to allow for future meaningful salary growth in this position.
