Venturi Astrolab, Inc. (Astrolab) is pioneering new ways to explore and operate on distant planetary bodies. We are singularly focused on designing, building, and operating a fleet of multi-purpose commercial planetary rovers to extend and enhance humanity's presence in the solar system. The Controller will be responsible for managing the daily accounting functions including but not limited to accounts payable and receivable, daily cash reporting, purchase order control, fixed assets, billing, collections, payroll, and bank reconciliations for Astrolab. The Controller will also assist with the annual budget process, producing monthly budget analysis, reviewing transactions to ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures relating to company financial issues. The Controller will prepare and review all GAAP financial schedules. This position will supervise the accounting staff as well as communicate all appropriate information to various operations in a timely and accurate manner.

What you'll do: Lead the Team:

Grow and guide the accounting team, direct accounting personnel of various levels on assignments Financial Reporting:

Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, monthly, quarterly, and year end close processes Monthly Close:

Review preparation of monthly financials including journal entries, key statistics, various detailed analyses, budget fluctuations, account reconciliations, etc. To ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP accounting Budgeting & Forecasting:

Prepare or assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and related revisions Compliance & Audits:

Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, including tax filings, and coordinate external audits as necessary Cash Flow Management:

Manage invoicing, accounts payable/accounts receivable (AP/AR), revenue and overall strategy and efficiencies to optimize cash flow, ensure liquidity, and align financial resources with operational needs Cost Analysis & Control:

Analyze operational costs and new business impacts to identify areas for improvement to enhance profitability and efficiency Process Improvement:

Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets with attention to GAAP compliance, segregation of duties, and controlling expenses Collaboration:

Work closely with other departments, particularly engineering and operations and business development, to align financial planning with company projects and goals What you'll bring:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA certification a plus 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, including experience in a management role 5+ years experience managing teams Experience leading all aspects of full cycle monthly/quarterly/annual closings Direct experience in government contracting environment, including experience with different contract types (Fixed Price, Time & Materials, Cost Reimbursement, etc.) Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. NetSuite) and strong Excel skills Experience in manufacturing, aerospace, or technology industries is a plus Benefits and Perks:
