Team Overview The Global Accounting and Product Services (GAAPS) division is responsible for providing operational support to BlackRock’s portfolio management teams and clients. GAAPS is central to business operations in providing subject matter expertise, monitoring fund administrator service delivery in relation to fund accounting and financial reporting, supporting projects in relation to product launches and liaising with fund administrators, auditors, fund directors and portfolio managers. We are seeking an initiative-taking and career driven candidate to join our growing Private Markets Performance team overseeing BlackRock’s Alternative Investments business. The function will span businesses such as Private Equity, Private Debt, Infrastructure, Hedge Funds and Fund of Funds. Seeking an experienced professional to work on complex and fast-paced businesses in a dynamic and evolving environment. Role Responsibilities Calculate accurate and insightful performance metrics for open-end funds, closed-end funds and separately managed accounts. Provide oversight of third-party administrators, while liaising internally with Portfolio Management, Product Strategy, Fund Controllers, Compliance and GIPS teams. Demonstrate subject matter expertise and ownership of the day-to-day performance oversight function to ensure timely and accurate delivery of performance for usage in client reporting, marketing and internal management reporting. Ensure a robust control environment exists both at the fund service providers and internally to mitigate risk of errors. Develop new controls and consider appropriate points of performance comparison (e.g. benchmarking). Drive increased efficiency and control through continuous review of operating procedures; evaluate and implement technology improvements in partnership with dedicated Technology teams. Support internal and external partners’ ad-hoc requests - provide status updates and appropriately manage expectations with senior partners. Responsible for compliance with performance-related requirements stemming from SEC (and other) regulations. Follow up on incidents including root-cause analysis as well as proposing and overseeing the implementation of solutions to reduce future occurrences. Participate in the product onboarding and lifecycle change process, to drive key decisions relating to performance. Experience 7+ years of investment management performance oversight / GIPS work experience or equivalent. Alternative investment experience, specifically for closed-end structures required. Strong academic background with a degree in Finance (preferred) or other related fields. CFA a plus, as well as other designations such as CIPM or CAIA. Performance-measurement spanning time-weighted rates of return, internal rates of return, equity multiples and benchmarking. Working knowledge of / familiarity with related disciplines of Operations, Valuation and Investment Accounting. Sound analytical and critical thinking skills. Excellent attention to detail and written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage projects and team members, and meet deadlines within a team environment. Fluent in technology applications; development/citizen coding skills a plus.
