Job Description
The Development Director is responsible for the enhancement and execution of fundraising strategies to increase revenue for our quickly growing non-profit. This position will report to the Executive Director and serve as a key member of our executive leadership team. In addition, this position will collaborate on branding and collateral materials.
The mission of CARE-Dallas is to create environments that support and encourage our youth to live substance-free lives, setting them up for healthier and more fulfilling futures and to serve as a confidential, no-cost resource for individuals and families struggling with addiction. This position faces unique challenges and an opportunity to find creative fundraising strategies/solutions to ensure agency sustainability. Furthermore, CARE is entirely privately funded through individuals, foundations, corporate sponsorships, event, and program income. This funding model must be enhanced to provide the needs of the CARE Dallas community.
Job Responsibilities
Fundraising Strategy:
Develop a comprehensive long-term fundraising strategy aligned with CARE’s mission and goals. This includes creating annual goals, identifying potential funding sources, cultivating relationships with donors and funders, and diversifying revenue streams. Create revenue projections for the annual agency budget and projected long-term budget needs for longevity and sustainability. Monitor local and national trends and adapt fundraising strategies as necessary. Reduce reliance on a single annual event for organization revenue needs. Public Relations and Communications:
Work closely with the Communications Manager to develop effective messaging, branding, and promotional materials to support fundraising activities. Participate in public speaking engagements and represent the organization at community events. Identify networking and public speaking opportunities to increase agency visibility, meet prospective funders, and execute the plan to establish CARE as a thought leader in primary prevention of underage drinking education throughout our community. Donor Cultivation and Stewardship:
Create, build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential funding partners. This involves prospect research, solicitations, fundraising events, and stewardship. Propose and manage timeline and execution of annual stewardship plan as a part of the larger development plan. Plan and direct donor cultivation to create positive donor experiences to ensure mission engagement. Individual Giving:
Cultivate relationships with individual donors and explore opportunities for major gifts and planned giving programs. Work closely with board members, executive leadership, and volunteers to identify and engage potential major donors. Special Events:
Provide oversight of the planning and execution of all special events related to revenue and donor development. Develop and maintain underwriting lists and cultivate relationships with past and future underwriters and identify new candidates. Corporate Giving:
Help create a corporate giving campaign and oversee the implementation of these strategies. Identify connections to businesses and cultivate relationships with decision-makers to build and steward partnerships. Foundation Management:
Identify grant opportunities, help develop and manage the case for support and oversee the grant application and post-award process. Qualifications + Competencies
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience 5+ years in professional fundraising Proven track record of increasing donor base and revenue Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills Strategic communication skills Ability to complete numerous tasks and problem-solve daily High attention to detail Strong pertinent software skills Affiliation to the mission is preferred but not required
