Position Summary:
Vaccine Coordinator monitors and performs the inventory, storage, and transport of all vaccines. The Vaccine Coordinator completes all weekly and monthly reports and submits to MDHHS/Vaccines for Children's Program. The Vaccine Coordinator monitors and performs vaccine administration, documentation into MCIR, and all duties related to ordering immunization supplies, vaccines, and maintaining balanced inventory.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (or higher) required.
Current, unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
Knowledge of immunization administration and practice, including COVID-19 vaccinations.
Reliable transportation and ability to travel to various DPSCD sites, including multiple sites in a single day.
Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Registered Nurse.
Essential Functions: Monitors the storage and temperature of vaccine equipment daily.
Maintains and documents weekly inventory of vaccines.
Ensures that all transport equipment is properly functioning.
Ensures that students have appropriate consent forms on file prior to receiving vaccines.
Leads the administration of Immunizations at DPSCD sites with the assistance of a medical assistant.
Ensures that all vaccines administered are properly entered into MCIR.
Promotes and adheres to all DPSCD efforts to remain in compliance with state mandates for immunization compliance.
Assists the school MCIR administrator and users, as needed with all activities related to immunization compliance.
Monitors the work of the medical assistant, in interpretation of orders and administration of vaccines.
Provides education to students and parents on the vaccine schedule, and care following immunizations.
Ensures that parents and students receive documentation of all administered vaccines.
Provides care in the event of urgent/emergent episodes occurring as a result of immunization.
Ensure that storage equipment temperatures are documented twice daily.
Follow proper protocol in response to temperature excursions or equipment failure.
Remain current with all Vaccine for Children Program trainings and requirements.
Remain current with all MCIR trainings.
Prepare and participate with all Vaccine for Children Program audits.
Monitor and assist with the safe transfer of vaccines in event of emergencies, power failures, or equipment failure.
Assist with the training and skills validation of members of the health team.
Perform other duties as assigned.
