Job Description
SUMMARY :
Reporting to the Dean of the Graduate School, and with additional direction by the Associate Dean, the Communications Coordinator supports the University and The Graduate School in achieving key institutional objectives, via enhanced and timely communications to appropriate students, faculty, and others using a range of platforms and tools consistent with the meaning and importance of messaging.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop content and manage communications to students and faculty involved in graduate education using a variety of outlets including web, social media, text campaigns, email and letter campaigns, video or other media based on message and purpose. Develop content for the web and maintain web presence for the graduate school. Coordinate lines of communication among The Graduate School team members to ensure messages are direct, useful, and delivered in prompt fashion. Drive social media strategy for students and faculty in graduate programs to engage and inform people in innovative ways. Coordinate with University Communications and Student Communications Office in SDCL Division regarding messaging about events and activities in The Graduate School and graduate programs. Develop relationships with Deans, faculty members, and graduate students to identify promotional opportunities to support prestige and impact enrollment. Track message impact and fine tune strategies to attain maximum impact Manage The Graduate School search engine optimization and e-mail marketing to maximize exposure among target audiences. Collaborate with University Advancement and Marketing and Communications to develop and implement technology-based marketing strategies to promote on-campus events. Create online content to communicate the intrinsic value of a graduate degree from Montclair State University by capturing the authentic experience of both current graduate students and alumni. Create and administer survey tools to accurately evaluate effectiveness of current student events. Manage, distribute, and develop content for graduate student newsletter. Perform other duties as assigned. Management retains the right to add or change job duties at any time. QUALIFICATIONS :
REQUIRED:
Bachelor's Degree from accredited college or university in a related field. A minimum of two years of professional experience in marketing, social media, communications or related field. Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in web technologies. Demonstrated success in prior roles and a proven commitment to diversity. Experience with MS Office. PREFERRED:
Master's degree required from an accredited college or university Higher education experience Ability to work effectively and comfortably in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. Experience with Banner, Degree Works, Workday, and Slate by Technolutions.
