Job Description

Responsible for the day-to-day administrative departmental responsibilities in the College of Engineering and Computer Sciences
  • The successful applicant will provide direct support to the department Chairs and faculty, complete travel authorizations and settlement forms, make reservations as needed, organize meetings, complete meeting minutes quickly and accurately, direct student traffic to appropriate personnel for advising and schedule appointments with the Department Chairs.
  • Possess excellent communication and grammar skills with a demonstrated ability to deal with multiple tasks from a diverse group of individuals.
  • Maintain excellent professional relationships with associates, supervisors, faculty and clients.
  • The successful applicant will maintain student and departmental files and ensure information is accurate and up-to-date, place holds on student's registration, register students when needed, update student records, enter course schedules, prepare faculty advisee list and assignments in the Banner system.
  • Prepare correspondence and distribute for the Department Chairs.
  • Successful applicants will monitor the departments' budgets, maintain Chairs and conference room calendars.
  • Prepare paperwork to hire Student Assistants and provide training for them to complete timesheets and clock in and out of the TimeClock Plus (TCP) system.
  • Enter approvals in TCP for 10-20 student assistants weekly.
  • Conduct special projects that include pre-requisite corrections, yearly catalog proofs and edits, and place textbook orders each semester.
  • The successful applicant will maintain the departments' office supply inventories, order materials, supplies and equipment for labs and student capstone projects using the appropriate regulations and policies for State Pcard, MURC Pcard, MU Foundation requisitions, and enter encumbrances and requisitions in Banner. The successful candidate will also assist faculty with purchases, travel and monitor budgets.
  • Retrieve mail from the mailroom daily and other duties as assigned.

Salary Range
$27,000 - $33,300; Salary may be increased based off education, experience, and internal equity.

Must be able to perform all essential job duties as outlined in the job description.

Required Qualifications

Education
  • High School Degree or GED
Experience
  • Two years of experience in a corporate or professional environment and demonstrated computer skills.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Suite of Products, especially MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications

Education
  • 18 months of education beyond high school typically obtained through business, technical or vocational school
Experience
  • Banner student and finance, HR and MURC modules, knowledge and ability to use the PeopleAdmin System and Ad Astra scheduling system.
  • Familiarity with MU, MU Foundation and MURC policies and procedures is preferred. Additional years of related work experience in a corporate or professional environment is desirable.
