About Us:
We are a leading real estate investment firm that manages private equity funds focused on acquiring and developing commercial industrial real estate. We are looking for an experienced consultant to support our Fund Accounting team, from November to April, to assist with year-end close, annual audit preparation, financial reporting, and annual tax reporting.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant with extensive experience in fund accounting and auditing to support our Fund Accounting team. This individual will serve as the key point of contact (POC) for coordinating between the external Fund Administrator, external property accountants, external auditors, tax consultants, and internal teams, including Fund and Property Accounting, and other internal business units. Strong project management skills are essential to ensure effective communication and task execution across these stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess a background in public accounting (preferably as an auditor), and experience managing complex financial processes.  This is a contract position beginning in October 2024 and ending in April 2025. 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact (POC) for coordination between the external Fund Administrator, external auditors, and internal teams (including Fund and Property Accounting).
  • Provide hands-on project management to ensure all deadlines are met, key deliverables are accurate, and all stakeholders are aligned throughout the year-end close and financial reporting season.
  • Project management and daily reporting of KPIs related to the financial statement close process.
  • Assist in coordinating and preparing for the annual audit, ensuring all deliverables are accurate and provided on time.
  • Manage and oversee the year-end close process, working closely with Fund Accounting Manager and Controllers to ensure compliance and timely reporting.
  • Identify and resolve accounting issues in collaboration with internal and external auditors.
  • Track and manage delivery of audit support requests directly with fund auditors.
  • Support the implementation of process improvements and ensure best practices are followed throughout the close and reporting process.
  • As needed, support Fund tax consultants in the preparation of Fund tax returns, extension filings, investor K-1s, and related supporting files.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    CPA designation preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience, with a background in public accounting as an auditor, preferably with exposure to private equity or real estate funds.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., Yardi, NetSuite, or similar) is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with various teams.
