Administrative Professional
Division of Surface Water
$23.84 per hour
3-Month Contract with Potential to Extend
Monday-Friday, Flexible 8-Hours Between 7:00a-6:00p
Downtown Columbus, Ohio (onsite)
This position involves providing administrative support through tasks such as document scanning, spreadsheet management, and working with both digital and hard copy files. Strong proficiency in computer applications, particularly Excel, and several years of administrative experience are required.
What you’ll be doing:
- Relieve supervisor of routine administrative tasks; provide recommendations related to program activities
- Research, analyze, and summarize materials to aid in decision-making
- Assist in developing new procedures aligned with existing program policies
- Act as a liaison between administrator and staff, transmitting decisions, and directives, and representing the administrator at meetings
- Manage the administrator’s office functions, including budget preparation, payroll processing, and purchasing supplies and equipment
- Maintain fiscal and personnel records and conduct interviews with prospective employees
- Perform public relations duties, including responding to inquiries, resolving complaints, and explaining programs to the public
- Work on special projects assigned and prepare reports, publications, memos, and presentations for external distribution
Who we’re looking for:
- Strong understanding of English grammar and composition, arithmetic, records management, business communication, and administrative procedures
- Proficient in office practices, budgeting, and government structure.
- Skilled in keyboarding and using business office software (e.g., Microsoft Office)
- Ability to operate office machines, including transcribing equipment and calculators
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, ability to interpret written and oral instructions, and write routine business correspondence.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, organize information, and provide appropriate responses to inquiries
- Associate degree or equivalent experience required
