Job Description
ASRC Federal AFSS is a premier provider of systems engineering, software engineering, system integration and project management services for real-time, mission-critical defense systems.We are seeking a Communications Specialist to provide full-time in office support to a NASA contract in Greenbelt, MD.
Responsibilities:
Provide support to the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES-R)/Geostationary Extended Observations (GeoXO) GEO Ground Project and Program Offices.
Technical/Scientific Writing and Communication
Collaborate with GEO Ground Project team on data visualizers, writers, editors, and scientists to support imagery, animations, videos, social media campaigns, and interactive features. Support senior writers and media producers on all stages of content development. Provide pitches for science articles, posts and videos and assist with researching, drafting and script development. Provide writing support as requested for presentations and outreach materials. Assist with industry inquiries. Establish and maintain communication channels within the GEO Program, the record keeping and management of project administrative tasks. Develops and implements internal communication strategies to ensure clear and consistent communication between stakeholders and the workforce Build and maintain a network of GEO Ground Project subject matter experts. Outreach Fulfillment and Support
Responsible for managing and maintaining the outreach materials inventory and requests.
Responsible for controlling the outreach materials inventory in collaboration with the Senior Outreach Manager and the Program Support Manager (PSM).
Maintain an accurate inventory of outreach material. Engage the PSM for reorders when materials reach a minimum threshold; to be defined by outreach material type. Responsible for managing and processing of outreach material fulfillment requests. Coordinate with the Senior Outreach Manager to prepare standard and campaign driven fulfillment material packages. Collaborate with the Senior Outreach Manager for non-standard material requests, including internal customer requests. Monitor the Materials Request Form submissions spreadsheet on NOAA Google Sheets. Maintain records on fulfillment orders for monthly reports, including requestor information, number of items shipped, and shipment dates. Package and prepare shipping forms and deliver packages to the Small Packages Office in building 35.
General Support
Support conducting GEO Ground Project new hire/new team member orientation. Assist in the maintenance of the orientation presentation. Individual will pro-actively interface with all levels of management and other project team members to ensure the GOES-R/GeoXO GEO Ground Project has support covered as needed. Store and manage files on the GOES-R/GeoXO SharePoint and NOAA Google Workspace. Support the creation and maintenance of presentations utilizing MS PowerPoint. If required, ensure materials are Section 508 compliant. Additional responsibilities as required. Requirements
Excellent verbal communication skills to support interfacing with both technical and project management, industry and outreach communities. Excellent writing, editing and formatting skills. Strong attention to detail Proactive and strategic process improvement abilities. Ability to understand and translate technical and scientific content for general public consumption. Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, OneDrive, and Google Suite. Proactive issue management and follow up with a forward-thinking work style. Ability to work well within a distributed team. Occasional travel is possible. Individual must meet government NAC and citizenship/permanent residency requirements for access to NASA GSFC. Extensive background investigation will be performed as a requirement of the job. Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of experience.

This posting is offering a pay range of $61,499 to $92,249 per hour depending on experience, seniority, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law.
