The growing demand for low carbon and responsibly sourced products is creating growth opportunities in critical metals recycling and secondary refining, and as the world's largest precious metals recycler, PGMS is a key player in the circular economy.To provide technical support to the Refining Technology team at the West Deptford site, assisting with troubleshooting and upgrades to control systems and networks.Responsible for supporting development and implementing an improved long term controls strategy, being lead for PGMS US-wide technology team.Your responsibilities:Implement long term (5+ yrs) control system plans and standards for process control improvements within PGMS R&D Department, responsible for scaling up chemical processesContribute to development and implementation of controls & automation standards, ensure said standards are metResponsible for department controls strategy, reviewing technology offerings and upgradesTechnical lead for department controls and automation projects involving batch and continuous chemical processes, with values up to $500KWork with other areas of JM to share and develop best practice within the controls environment across the companyIdentify and propose improvements to controls and electrical equipment systems (instrumentation systems, power and VFDs, etc.), and follow through with implementation.Provide automation and process control support, advise on control system designs, and provide ongoing assistance for controls aspects of commissioning and operations activitiesDesign and tune P&ID loops and oversee alarm management.Evaluate control risks and classify events in compliance with PSM standards. Facilitate controls/OT security risk assessments and support PSM tasks as required.Implement recognized regulatory standards with regards to all control policies, procedures and functions, including safety instrumented systems. Provide controls-based review of projects to ensure these requirements are met correctly.Ensure controls strategy, network and procedures manage OT cyber security requirements appropriately and provide technical support to OT cyber security lead as neededWork with functional safety and PSM team to ensure long term strategies align and shorter-term requirements are metSupport the production/development/review/maintenance/update of controls related documentation, files, procedures, databases, drawings and schematics in order to ensure integrity of systems and process control technologies. Support the development of systems to facilitate these documentation requirements.Support Operations and the Engineering team with escalated breakdowns, provide assistance to area engineers to troubleshoot process control problems and meet business needsGuide area personnel on process control strategy in order to assist process control improvement effortsHire and direct outside electrical contractors performing work on the controls and electrical systemsRequirements for the role:Degree in Chemical, Electrical or related engineering with experience in designing automated electrical controls using programmable automation controllers. Strong experience with Allen Bradley and Rockwell Automation Technologies.5+ years of industrial work experience within a chemical industryDemonstrated ability to program PLC Allen Bradley PLC5, Micrologix, Compactlogix and Controllogix processors with Rockwell Automation SoftwareExperience with SCADA packages, ideally Rockwell Automation's FactoryTalkView SEDemonstrated success in managing and leading both long-term programs/projects as well as address short-term operational issuesKnowledge of Microsoft Applications (Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) as well as AutoCADExperience in development of engineering standards and production of engineering reportsDemonstrated knowledge and understanding of Instrumentation & Process ControlUnderstanding of cyber security and control regulationsStrong knowledge of motor control design and Variable Frequency Drive operationStrong knowledge of Digital and Analog I/O module specification, installation, and configuration, both local and remoteStrong knowledge of remote field device communications.
