PURPOSE

The Environmental Safety and Health Manager will have primary responsibility for administration, maintenance, and operation of Health and Safety and Emergency response programs for FormFactor. This is a hands-on role that will assure employee well-being, regulatory compliance, and support of corporate objectives in a semi-conductor manufacturing environment across two FFI Probes sites in Baldwin Park, California and Carlsbad, California. The candidate will home office at the Baldwin Park location and is required to travel to Carlsbad at least once per week. The ideal candidate will not only serve as a resource for all EHS issues but will also be involved in management of daily operations duties such as injury management, wastewater management and chemical handling as needed. The Manager is responsible for administering Environmental Health and Safety, Emergency Management, and Risk Management programs; for implementing, managing, and continuously improving practices, policies, and programs that enhance the environmental health and safety of our staff and public; mitigate risks, and meet changing regulatory demands; for the coordination of all risk management activities, to assure proper and adequate protection for Form Factor, a reduction of losses, and adherence to established standards, policies, and legal requirements. Reporting to the Senior EHS Manager, responsibilities will be carried out in collaboration with all departments including production, facilities, project management and local state, and federal agencies, as appropriate. The EH&S Manager participates on various business unit and campus wide committees and work groups. This position has a high degree of autonomy and must operate in a complex environment characterized by substantial change. It requires an understanding of the strategic mission, goals, and objectives of a technology-based company.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manager must communicate well, motivate others, handle, and delegate responsibilities, listen to feedback, and have the flexibility to solve problems in an ever-changing workplace.
  • Responsible for ownership of EHS initiatives to improve compliance and EHS efficiency across the Probes Business units.
  • Manage EHS contracts, permits, and licenses for the Probes business unit sites.
  • Oversee hazardous chemical handling program and compliance efforts.
  • Champion site injury-reduction and safety-culture-improvement efforts, including proactive safety programs, employee engagement and risk awareness.
  • Manages the effects of changes in laws and regulations relevant to the organization accordingly.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and manage compliance audits and inspections.
  • Ensure the timely reporting and investigation of all incidents and serve as plant resource in cause analysis and investigation methods and participate in regular Injury Review Board meetings, manage, and assess existing or emerging federal, state, as well as local EHS laws, regulatory policies, industry practices and propose operational and business changes to maintain compliance.
  • Responsible for wastewater treatment systems and strategic changes to the waste plan.
  • Serve as a plant resource for practices, programs, and analysis/resolution of issues in the fields of industrial safety, security and emergency response which may include complex analysis or solutions.
  • Manages the hazardous waste program and ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Maintains compliance knowledge base for the organization including local, state, and federal agencies including OSHA.
  • Maintain OSHA record keeping including site safety metric tracking and work with the Human Resources Department to manage all work-related Workers Compensation claims.
  • Direct and facilitate the site Workforce Safety Teams.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of new EHS strategies, programs, polices and training based on industry standards.
  • Manage and maintain site Probes business unit compliance initiatives.
  • Assist in EHS audits, incident investigations, corrective actions, and forward-looking planning and improvements including ISO and RBA audits.
  • Maintain, manage, and improve the effectiveness of site policies and procedures such as lockout/tagout, confined space entry, hot work, fall protection, security, emergency response, etc.
  • Develop and deliver safety and security training to site personnel, as needed.
  • Participate in project reviews and provide safety consultation, as needed, for equipment installations and work process instructions.
  • Provide oversight of site emergency response operations and emergency communications, including training, equipment maintenance and compliance records.
  • Provide and administer accurate site EHS budget forecasts.
  • Travel to sister site required.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years experience leading workplace safety and EHS.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience with direct responsibility for management of hazardous chemical handling
  • Familiarity with management and ownership wastewater treatment systems
  • Working knowledge of the following areas: Environmental regulations, OSHA regulations, workers comp. and other safety and health governmental requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort/ability to interact with all levels of employees.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and EH&S software


The pay range for this role in Baldwin Park, CA is between $115,800 and $160,000. The pay range may differ in other locations. FormFactor maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
