Compensation $115k-200k (base on experience)
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
Our Client is looking for a Structural Engineer who is part of the engineering team and is primarily responsible for the analysis and design of composite (mainly fiberglass) structures. This role demands a strong grasp of engineering principles, excellent problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills. The successful candidate will ensure that all structures are safe, sustainable, and compliant with relevant codes and standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Safety/Culture
•Continuously maintains the company's management's safety, cultural, and professional standards.
•Promotes, encourages, and reinforces a positive safety culture, safe practices, and a safe work environment for all employees.
Design and Analysis
•Create and evaluate structural systems for a range of projects, including commercial, residential, and industrial buildings, tanks, and other structures, with a focus on composite materials.
CAD (Computer-aided design) Proficiency
•Prepare detailed drawings and specifications using CAD software.
Feasibility Studies
•Conduct feasibility studies and site investigations to determine project requirements and constraints.
Collaboration
•Work closely with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to ensure design integrity and regulatory compliance.
Review and Approval
•Review and approve shop drawings and material submittals.
Calculations and Simulations
•Perform structural calculations and simulations to ensure safety and adherence to building codes.
Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
•Conduct finite element analysis using appropriate software to analyze structural components.
Construction Monitoring
•Oversee construction activities to ensure adherence to designs and specifications.
Structural Assessments
•Conduct structural assessments and inspections of existing buildings and infrastructure, work with QA:QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) process control teams.
Industry Awareness
•Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes.
Technical Reporting
•Prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.
•Work to be done during manufacturing business hours, however, this position may on occasion work outside business hours to support department and business needs. Occasional long hours may be required.
Regular, consistent, and predictable attendance is required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Must possess a PE (Professional Engineering) license.
Minimum of four years experience in structural engineering or a related field.
Proficient in structural analysis and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SAP2000, ETABS), and finite element analysis software.
Strong understanding of materials, codes, and construction methods.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to be flexible and adjust to priority changes with little notice and to remain calm during confrontational or high-pressure situations.
Ability to use sound judgment and follow through in problem-solving and decision-making processes.
Must be willing and able to travel if/when business requires it. Must be able to comply with current travel regulations and guidelines of airlines and destination locations.
Must be able to meet and maintain the company's approved driver criteria; a valid driver's license, satisfactory driving record, current insurance on personal vehicle if used for business, and meet company insurability requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Primarily indoor office environment and may include limited time in production areas. Travel requirements may include operation of a motor vehicle, airplane travel, and overnight stays in temporary lodging. May require the ability to visit project sites that are situated on a variety of developed and undeveloped terrain/locations. Includes exposure to outside weather conditions and occasional exposure to dust, other outside elements, and wastewater that may require the proper use of personal protective equipment including but not limited to gloves.
