Are you interested in carpentry, painting, and building maintenance? Do you like a variety of hands-on work? Come join the Facilities & Services Building Maintenance & Paint team! We are looking for a motivated self-starter with a desire to learn and grow their maintenance, carpentry and painting skills.

Job Responsibilities: Provides a variety of carpentry/repair services for on-going maintenance of campus buildings. Provides painting and staining service to campus. Provides carpentry services to remodel and repair projects.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of:
  • A variety of carpentry skills and general building repair skills including repairs to floors/roofs/windows/doors
  • Math including geometry and fractions.
  • Painting, including products and techniques, tinting, and operation of paint spraying equipment.
Skill & Ability to:
  • Paint and use paint tinting equipment.
  • Perform basic and customized carpentry work.
  • Read and understand construction drawings.
  • Work safely with various types of power and hand tools
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and critical thinking.
  • Work with a positive attitude, as a team player, and be willing to learn new things.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Required License: Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications: Respirator Certification.

Comments: This position is classified as a Senior Building Maintenance Worker. South Dakota State University is a tobacco free environment.
