Scrum Master Role:

Help lead teams by following an Agile Project Management methodology. Facilitate communication and promote collaboration throughout. Execute all Scrum ceremonies and track sprints while being the heart and soul of teams, working to keep everyone excited and focused on what is being delivered. Apply specific functional knowledge, including working and general industry knowledge.

Below are some of the responsibilities the Scrum Master may be expected to assume in their position:

  • Educate teams on refining and maintaining the product backlog
  • Help software development teams apply the Scrum framework
  • Plan deliverables and helping teams monitor performance
  • Resolve issues that hinder the teams’ work
  • Manage each project’s scope and timeline
  • Ability to coordinate sprints, retrospective meetings and daily stand-upAbility to facilitate internal communication and effective collaboration
  • Assess existing workflows and value streams for various products
  • They will be able to work with software engineers and other analysts to improve the analysis process
  • Use data to understand business patterns and trends.
  • They will document process flows.
  • They will elicit, define or refine, and trace requirements of business and technical nature.
  • They will coach one or more teams on applying Agile practices and values.
  • They will assess the current organization and delivery environment and recommend optimal Agile practices.
  • Teach Scrum practices and principles
  • They will facilitate continuous improvement and the development of a learning culture on teams.
  • They will foster team responsibility, accountability, transparency and self-organization.
  • They will leverage coaching skills to help teams solve its own problems.

The Must-Haves: To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below.

  • Must currently reside in the US.
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
  • Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 1 or more years of Scrum Master experience
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification or Scrum Alliance Certification
  • Must deliver software that meets or exceeds customer expectations, verified during sprint reviews
  • The candidate must be able to work in a team environment and be proficient in MS Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Demonstrated ability to form positive working relationships with customers, peers, and team members.
  • Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, and listening.
  • Knowledge and use of industry-standard project methods, tools and techniques.(burndown, velocity charts, metrics, etc.).
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to reprioritize and multitask in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Skills/Experience: The experience listed below are preferred for this job

  • Experience with projects using Scaled Agile Framework, collecting and documenting system requirements and capabilities, and writing user stories or structured user stories for software features
  • Experience with setting up sprints in Jira, running reports, and creating queries
  • Experience in working with various stakeholders to gather and refine backlogs, and supporting a technical delivery lead in decomposition sessions to determine next steps for feature development
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
  • Familiarity with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Experience with problem-solving and conflict-resolution
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Experience with MS Teams online collaboration tools
  • Ability to communicate technical ideas in a non-technical way
  • Ability to facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
