A law firm seeks an experienced Labor & Employment Partner to join a leading, fully remote practice. The ideal candidate will bring over 8 years of experience in handling complex state and federal employment matters, with a focus on employer-side representation. This is an excellent opportunity for a business-oriented attorney with expertise in key employment law areas, such as wage and hour laws, workplace safety, employee discrimination, and M&A-related employment issues. A self-sustaining portable client base generating at least $250,000 in annual revenue is required for consideration.
Duties:
- Provide legal counsel to clients on a wide range of employment matters, including wage and hour laws, non-compete agreements, workplace safety regulations, and rest break laws.
- Advise employers on disability leave policies, workplace harassment issues, employee discrimination, and wrongful discharge claims.
- Draft, review, and update employment policies, procedures, and employee handbooks.
- Analyze and address employment-related concerns in sophisticated mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions, both domestic and international.
- Represent employer-side clients in all employment-related matters, with a focus on providing strategic legal guidance and risk management.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in employment law, with a focus on employer-side representation.
- Strong background in managing complex employment law matters in a business-centric law firm.
- Prior experience at an AmLaw 200 firm or a comparable firm is preferred.
- A portable client base generating at least $250,000 annually, or a robust business development plan demonstrating significant growth potential.
- Familiarity with employment law issues related to mergers and acquisitions (M&A) is a plus.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
- Active bar membership in one or more U.S. states (Minnesota preferred, but other states considered).
Skills:
- Deep expertise in key employment law areas, such as wage and hour issues, non-compete agreements, workplace safety, and employee discrimination.
- Proven experience in providing high-level legal counsel on employer-side matters.
- Strong ability to draft and review comprehensive employment policies and handbooks.
- Knowledge of employment law considerations in M&A transactions, both domestic and international.
- Excellent client management and business development skills, with a proven track record of maintaining a portable client base.
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and capable of managing a fully remote practice with minimal oversight.
