Job Overview:
A growing estate planning law firm in Newport Beach is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Associate Trust and Estates Attorney to join their team. Duties:
Prepare, review, and edit legal documents, including Accounting Petitions, Petitions for Instructions, Probate Petitions, Conservatorship Petitions, Ex Parte Applications, and Declarations in Probate Law
Manage court-supervised trust administrations, probate cases, and conservatorship matters from start to finish
Review Probate Notes and Tentative Rulings, and prepare responses via supplements
Collaborate with the Owner and Senior Associate Attorney to ensure efficient case management
Delegate work to paralegals, legal assistants, and law clerks, while overseeing quality and progress
Lead and participate in client consultations and meetings
Cultivate relationships with clients by maintaining consistent and timely communication
Appear at hearings and represent clients in court
Coordinate with the billing department to generate invoices for client matters
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in at least two of the following areas: Estate Planning, Special Needs Planning, Trust Administration, Conservatorships, and/or Probate
Licensed to practice law in California (California State Bar membership required)
Ability to handle client matters and cases independently after an orientation and period of monitored work
Strong work ethic and commitment to delivering high-quality legal services
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Proficient in MS Office Suite, timekeeping, and case management software
High emotional intelligence and empathy—must demonstrate compassion for clients and colleagues
Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
Detail-oriented, reliable, and well-organized
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
