Workers Compensation Associate Attorney

A growing law firm is seeking a Worker’s Compensation Associate Attorney for a fully remote position in the United States. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney looking to specialize in workers' compensation law with upward mobility and the chance to handle diverse, high-impact cases. The role includes managing cases, conducting trials, depositions, and appeals, and leading a team of legal staff. Location Duties Manage a caseload of workers' compensation cases for employers and insurance companies across Missouri and Illinois. Conduct trials, depositions, and appeals independently, ensuring client objectives are met. Lead and mentor legal staff, fostering an efficient and collaborative work environment. Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of workers' compensation laws in Missouri and Illinois. Participate in client meetings, mediations, and settlement negotiations. Prepare research articles and provide legal education to clients. Provide strategic direction and leadership in case management and staff operations. Requirements Licensed to practice law in Missouri and Illinois (or eligible for licensure). Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in workers’ compensation law. Experience handling complex cases in workers’ compensation, including depositions and trials. Strong negotiation and litigation skills. Ability to work independently and manage a team of support staff. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Education Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school. Certifications Licensed to practice law in Missouri and Illinois (or ability to be licensed). Skills Expertise in workers’ compensation law and regulations. Strong research, writing, and analytical skills. Leadership skills, with experience managing legal teams. Proficiency in legal software and case management tools. Ability to advocate effectively in court and at hearings. Negotiation skills, with a focus on favorable settlements. Ability to work collaboratively within a team. 401(k) with employer matching.
