MISSION
Helps define and maintain Data Center / SaaS architecture as well as server environments to ensure that the organization's IT solutions are built within a consistent framework and aligned to strategy. Implements and may lead activities that generally impact multiple components / processes and the work of own and possibly other teams. Assigned highly complex, strategic undertakings that regularly require the application of independent judgment and creativity. Receives work in short, mid- and long- term outcomes and operates within the context of defined operating outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for solution architectures of client platforms and assessment of new technologies
- Provide leadership and prescriptive direction in support of solutions, including the creation of solution architecture deliverables and associated roadmaps
- Collaborate with IT Delivery Leads, Project Managers, Engineers and Functional Leads to provide oversight in delivery.
- Leads the design, development and operation of the DCE / IT systems infrastructure.
- Leverage Agile for project management.
- Responsible for the management and maintenance of clients' Infrastructure. Including the participation in and oversight of storage, server, networks and virtual infrastructures.
- Responsible for the design, planning, implementation, and maintenance of companies' infrastructure and architecture.
- Will be expected to show leadership to and mentor less experienced engineers.
- Troubleshooting escalated server, storage, software, and hardware issues within both corporate and platform environments.
- Recommend, schedule, and implement system hardware and/or software upgrades or repairs.
- Determine solutions to remediate recurring problems or automate recurring tasks.
- Analyze and understand business requirements to insure optimal server architecture and infrastructure are put in place to assure high availability and recoverability.
- Monitor server environment for proactive assessment of performance and identification of potential resource bottlenecks using various monitoring tools (commercial and opensource)
- Perform capacity planning, performance optimization, and preventative maintenance duties such as backup/recovery and tuning.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend technology products and services.
- Provide training and support to users and system administrators.
- Participate and lead in project activities and planning.
- Develop and maintain system tools and scripts for automating or simplifying system administration tasks.
- Establish and maintain contact with vendors for maintenance and service.
- Participate in the creation and maintenance of system administration best practices, technical standards, policies, and documentation.
- Responsible for development and documentation of corporate policies and procedures related to systems administration.
- Responsible for the overall design and growth of local and wide area networks.
- On-call rotation between DCE team (every 6 weeks).
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, plus 7-10 years of experience in systems, network administration and engineering.
Experience should include the following: - Data center and Cloud (Azure) infrastructure environments (Physical, Network and Virtual aspects)
- Virtualization environments (VMware ESX, Azure VMs, AWS or other technologies)
- Windows environment (Server OS, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies)
- Storage environments (Infinidat, EMC, Azure Blob/Files, Rubrik, Cisco MDS)
- Linux Environments (Redhat, CentOS, Ubuntu)
- F5 / Cisco Load Balancer and firewalls
- Email systems (Postfix, Sendmail, MS Exchange Online)
- Scripting (Powershell, Python, Perl, shell scripting and other scripting languages)
- Database Administration (MS SQL Server, Azure DB service)
- High-Level of Networking experience (Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper)
- A High-Level of understanding of infrastructure products and services and, more importantly, the ability to translate those technologies into value-added services for the supported business community
- Strong technical knowledge of telecommunications, network and various operating systems (Windows, Linux)
- Strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols and ITIL / NIST standards
- Proven experience in data center and cloud infrastructure planning, development and management.
- Experience in highly virtualized environments supporting a SaaS delivery model
