Cook Inlet Region, Inc is seeking a talented Human Resource Generalist to join our HR team. General Function
In alignment with CIRI's mission and values, the Human Resources Generalist performs day-to-day functions primarily related to, HRIS, onboarding, recruitment, file maintenance, and compliance in a fast-paced work environment.
Major Activities (Typical Duties/Responsibilities)
Develop and administer an effective and engaging onboarding program.
Ensure new hires receive regular communication prior to their start date. Administer and ensure accuracy of new hire paperwork; ensure new hires receive any required state specific information. Calendar all new hire orientation activities conducted by HR and other departments. Complete the I9 process in accordance with federal regulations. Ensure all new hire training is completed. Engage with new employees to ensure they have everything they need. Work with the Payroll department to ensure employees are set-up correctly.
Draft documentation for employee changes, ensure proper approval and execute change in systems. Serve as HRIS point of contact and administer HRIS related functions including:
Assisting with integrations. Maintaining HR related software systems (Bamboo, UKG, Brio, Nectar, etc.). Troubleshooting and resolving HRIS related issues. Ensuring HR related information in HRIS systems is accurate and up-to-date. Representing human resources needs and best practices when working on cross-functional systems related teams and/or coordinating SOPS with other departments. Entering employee information and changes in HRIS systems and ensuring appropriate back-up documentation for changes. Building and extracting reports for HR related data.
Maintain all active employee files and work with the Records team to ensure terminated/inactive employee files are handled in accordance with the records retention policy. Assist recruitment with recruitment functions to include posting jobs, screening resumes and representing the company at job fairs; serve as back-up to recruiter, as necessary. Ensure compliance regarding job postings, personnel files, I9s, document retention, etc. Administer the employee recognition program. Perform employee off-boarding functions. Effectively and actively communicate company policies and procedures. Respond to unemployment claims and employment verifications. Compile HR related metrics. Assist with creating and executing company-wide trainings. Work effectively with all levels of employees in the company. Stay apprised of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; communicate and implement best practices. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned, which may involve handling confidential and sensitive material.

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff, affiliated-company employees as well as outside business associates; exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others. Intermediate knowledge of general human resources functions, best practices and regulations. Intermediate professional written and oral communications skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Strong analytical skills; ability to determine how situations vary from one another and develop recommendations, ability to exercise sound, well-thought judgement. Ability to effectively create presentations and execute them in front of a group. Intermediate administrative skills. Ability to research and organize information with particular attention to accuracy and detail. Proficient using Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and industry-standard computer software and databases. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including thorough knowledge of proper grammar, advanced vocabulary, spelling, editing and proofreading skills. Ability to look at situations analytically, make decisions, solve problems and exercise excellent judgment. Superior organizational, follow-up and detail-oriented skills. Knowledge of ANCSA corporations and the businesses and activities of CIRI, its subsidiaries and its non-profit agencies. High degree of sensitivity regarding confidential information. Physical Abilities
Fine motor skills for use of computers, with an ability to withstand repetitive keyboarding for extended periods of time. Visual ability adequate to perform the essential functions of the job. Communication ability adequate to perform the essential functions of the job. Ability to reach below shoulder height with regular frequency (desk position) and at or above shoulder height on occasion. Ability to push, pull, carry and lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds on a regular basis. Ability to kneel, bend and twist at the waist on an occasional basis. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred. Three or more years' Human Resources experience illustrating experience in at least two of the following functional areas: recruitment, onboarding, HRIS, or employee records management. PHR strongly preferred. Experience in a for-profit organization preferred. Experience with a company whose employees work throughout the U.S. preferred. Ability to pass a background check.
