District: Laurel School District QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of a Master's degree with major emphasis in speech-language pathology, communication disorders or speech-language and hearing science Applicant must hold or be eligible for a Speech/Language Pathologist Professional License from the State of Delaware ASHA certification is preferred; however, CFY's may be considered if supervision is accessible. Must be able to stand and work continuously for a minimum of four hours per work day. Must be able to use arms and hands without restrictions to accommodate the physical, mobility, and ambulatory needs of students. Favorable criminal background check and child registry check required. Tuberculin test required. Participation in Direct Deposit required. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Screens students for possible speech and/or language deficiencies. Evaluates the speech/language skills of students in the schools and through Child Find. Schedules individual and small group therapy sessions for eligible students identified as having speech and/or language needs per IEP. Administers, interprets and explains standardized speech and language evaluation results with all participants during eligibility determination IEP meetings. Reviews, interprets, and explains evaluation results received from other school districts or evaluators outside of the district to determine eligibility for services and/or to determine if additional assessments are needed for eligibility determination. Refers students to and confers with community resources as required. Cooperates with the school personnel to deliver services in accordance with each student's IEP. Provides information, when requested, to parents and community through P.T.O., meetings, workshops, etc. Acts in a professional manner to promote students' feelings of self-worth and confidence. Implements therapy and behavioral strategies to meaningfully engage students to participate and practice targeted speech language, and behavior expectations. Prepares comprehensive evaluation reports, ESR documents, progress summaries, and related compliance documents in accordance with DE Department of Education and Cost Recovery Program guidance. Encourages students to behave in accordance with classroom and school rules and expectations. Keeps accurate records and documentation on student progress. Maintains a professional, cooperative working relationship with all school personnel. Performs other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Full time employee - 37.5 hours per week 11 month position - 207 days per year Salary based on current State and Local Teacher Salary Schedule Benefits in accordance with current Laurel School Board Policy
