TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Med/Surg RN in Montgomery, Alabama, 36116 About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse - Staff Float Pool MedSurg Job Specialty: MedSurg Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7:00 PM, 12-hour nights, 36/48 schedule Guaranteed Hours: 36/48 per week Experience: Minimum of 18 months in MedSurg License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Must-Have: At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience Job Description: - Work within a 492-bed facility with a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, and Primary Stroke Center. - Open to first-time travelers with the requisite MedSurg experience. - Collaborate with a team that provides comprehensive care on a variety of units: - 6 North Trauma Surgical Unit: Handle general and vascular surgery patients. Skills required include wound care, chest tubes, NGT, and IV skills. - 5 South Neuroscience Unit: Provide care for CVA, TBI, seizure, AMS, among others. Skills required include IV start, trach care, and central line blood draws. - 5 North MedSurg/Oncology: Care for a range of patients excluding stroke and MI, with a preference for chemo experience. Required skills include trach care, IV starts, and wound care. - 4 South Clinical Decision Unit: Treat patients with COPD, CHF, diabetes, etc. Skills needed include assessment, prioritization, and documentation. - 3 South Orthopedics: Care for orthopedic and spine patients, requiring skills like PCA pump operation and wound care. - 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology: Handle urology, ENT, and ortho patients. Required skills include wound care and IV starts. - Provide rotational support on weekends and holidays per policy requirements. - Utilize systems such as Cerner EMR, Plum 360 IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing. - Orientation includes 24 hours of classroom time and 24 hours on the unit for new and returning travelers. - Participate in a cooperative team environment with support from CNAs, Receptionists, Charge Nurses, and Telemetry Technicians. Note: Travelers must have been away from the facility for 6 months before returning. Orientation for rehires will depend on the previous employment period.
