TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Med/Surg RN in Montgomery, Alabama, 36116 About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse - Staff Float Pool MedSurg Job Specialty: MedSurg Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7:00 AM 12-hour Days - 36/48 Guaranteed Hours: 36/48 Experience: At least 18 months experience in MedSurg License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Trauma/surgical experience - Wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills - Medication administration and documentation - Escalation skills Job Description: - Work within a Level II Trauma Center and Level III NICU - First-time travelers must have at least 18 months of relevant experience - Will be given a home unit during orientation - Care for patients undergoing general surgery, vascular surgeries, and other conditions - Patient Ratios: 1:5-6 depending on unit - Specific skills for different units: - 6 North Trauma Surgical: General surgery, vascular surgeries - 5 South Neuroscience: CVA, TBI, seizure, AMS, spinal fusion, craniotomy, degenerative diseases, post-trauma, angiogram - 5 North MedSurg/Oncology: All patient types except stroke and MI, palliative care, ETOH withdrawal, MS/Oncology patients, chemo administration if certified - 4 South Clinical Decision Unit: General MedSurg, COPD, CHF, diabetes, MRSA, VRE, C-Diff, COVID, pneumonia, renal failure, sepsis, UTI, end-of-life comfort care - 3 South Orthopedics: Orthopedic and spine patients, joint replacements, fractures, fusions, laminectomies - 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology: Urology, ENT, ortho, MedSurg patients - Support on the Unit: - CNA Ratio: 1:6 - Receptionist/HUC present - Charge nurse available, rarely takes assignments - Phlebotomy and IV/VAT Team available - Hospitalist on site - RNs will interpret and confirm telemetry strip readings q4 hours - Technology/Equipment: - EMR: Cerner - IV pumps: Plum 360 - Medication dispensing: Omnicell - Monitors: Spacelabs - Floating to like-unit/patient location as needed - Orientation includes 24 hours of classroom time and 24 hours on the unit for new travelers or those returning after 1 years - Scheduling includes a weekend rotation every other week or four weekend days per month; holiday expectations are one major and one minor seasonal holiday as per policy - Scrub Color: Any color 26015599EXPTEMP Job Requirements Required for Onboarding ACLS - AHA BLS BLS - AHA Core Competency Pharmacology Skills Checklist Specialty Exam 5 Benefits of Travel Nursing Different regions may incorporate alternative medicine practices into healthcare.
