$35 per hour - This is a non benefited position. There is no set schedule. Work schedules depend on need of the district.

JOB GOAL:

School nurses facilitate positive student responses to normal development; promote health and safety; intervene with actual and potential health problems; provide case management services; and actively collaborate with others to build student and family capacity for adaptation, self-management, self-advocacy, and learning.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for professional medical treatment of students. Responsible for early detection of physical problems as well as health evaluation. Responsible for disease prevention. Maintain clinical records. Conducts state mandated screenings and health assessments. Provide emergency aid to students and school staff. Assists teachers in instructing students in health and nutrition education. Provide a variety of clerical duties in the health center, answering the health center telephone, filing health center records and reports, recording health and immunization data. Carrying out such other appropriate assignments not enumerated above as are made by the building principal, Lead Nurse, and/or Assisstant Superintendent of Operations. Shall cover other district health centers as needed.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS :

Bachelors degree in nursing. Current nursing license. School nurses certification preferred. Current CPR certification. Successful experience with children and youth preferred. Ability to cooperate with the other members of the school staff on the program and problems relating to health and health priorities.
