-Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:2-3
-Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?): BLS, ACLS
-Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Common MICU patients, Afib RVR, STEMI, temporary pacers, Sepsis, multiorgan failure, DKA, ETOH, Withdrawal, Severe anemia, EKOS, Covid, Post surgical- recover in ICU, all bipaps are placed in ICU even if they are lower acuity.
-Experience or 'Must have' skills: Must have at least 2 years of experience. Highly prefer previous travel experience. Must have common MICU experience with respiratory, some cardiac. Must be able to titrate drips, manage vents, lead codes. ICU nurses are responsible for responding to Rapid Responses and codes.
-Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes
-Common titratable &/or set rate drips: All common drips
-Is there a Charge Nurse &/or House Supervisor on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Charge nurse on both shifts. Charge will take assignment.
-Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: 1 CNA for both day and nightshift
-Hospitalist &/or Intensivist in house 24/7? In the ICU 24/7?: Inhouse provider (MD) available 24/7
-RT in ICU 24/7?: 2 RT's at all times.
-RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?: Drager and servo ventilators. They do not have pulmonologist. They use EICU support. The EICU manages vent settings 24/7.
-Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: Monitor tech 24/7. Nurses must be able to read and interpret strips.
-Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): 12 hr shifts from 7-7. You can clock in 15 minutes before. The manager helps create the schedules but they are highly flexible with scheduling. They will allow block scheduling if it works into the schedule.
-Weekend Requirements: Every Other
-Holiday Requirements: Rotate in with perm staff
-Is there a call or standby requirement?: No required call. If they have extra shifts available they will allow travelers to take call if the travelers request.
-Floating Requirements: Can float to medsurg/tele. Helping hands in psych, ER or L&D. Unless you have a background on another unit. Traveler can opt to work another unit if experienced.
-Scrub Color/Dress Code: Any color as long as they are clean and professional.
-Unit/Department specific orientation: 2-3days
