Real Estate Accountant

The accountant will be responsible for managing the financial transactions and records of real estate properties. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently. You will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

The accountant will be responsible for managing the financial transactions and records of real estate properties. You will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full-Cycle Accounting:
- Manage the entire accounting process for assigned real estate properties, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Record and reconcile financial transactions to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for real estate properties.
- Provide financial reports to management, highlighting key performance indicators and variances.
- Bank Reconciliation:
- Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts regularly.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the development and monitoring of property budgets.
- Collaborate with property management teams to gather relevant financial data for forecasting purposes.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Process invoices, ensure proper coding, and manage accounts payable.
- Monitor and manage accounts receivable, including rent collection and tenant billing.
- Expense Management:
- Review and analyze property-related expenses, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensure accurate coding and classification of expenses in the general ledger.
- Establish and maintain effective financial controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information.
- Implement and enforce accounting policies and procedures.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Collaborate with property managers, owners, and other stakeholders to address financial inquiries and provide information.
- Communicate financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an accountant in the real estate industry.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in accounting software-Yardi preferred
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
