Construction Superintendent

General Summary

The Construction Superintendent is responsible for construction operation including planning, scheduling, cost tracking, and direct supervision on projects up to $75M annually, to ensure alignment with project needs and Graniterock's Family Vision, Core Purpose, Core Values, Strategic priorities and business objectives.

Essential Job Accountabilities

  1. Comply, understand, and promote Graniterock safety initiatives to ensure "Safety before All Else."
  2. Collaborate with dispatch team to procure and assign the necessary resources in order to accomplish successful and timely completion of multiple construction projects.
  3. Partner with construction leadership team to effectively recruit, hire, retain and develop people so that Graniterock's construction crews are highly skilled and capable; support the use of trainees/apprentices in construction will help develop their skills.
  4. Partner with the other superintendents, dispatch, project management teams, and the construction leadership team to update the construction resource schedule for all jobs.
  5. Lead and mentor field supervisors and craft teams to ensure projects are constructed safely and in accordance with the Work Plan.
  6. Partner with Project Managers and Engineers to develop effective work plans, assign and coordinate the efforts of Field Supervisors, and work with project owner's representatives, subcontractors, and suppliers to support overall project objectives.
  7. Review and understand the plans, specifications, and details associated with the work being performed.
  8. Ensure construction supervisors and operators are completing daily equipment inspections utilizing the phone app.
  9. Conduct all operations in compliance with all Federal, State, and local laws;

Education and Work Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 10 years supervisory and/or Craft level management or equivalent construction experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, supervisory, and planning skills.
  • Ability to mentor and develop team members and effectively monitor performance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, HCSS Heavy Job or equivalent.
  • Understanding of craft employee relations, including the collective bargaining process and relevant employee-related laws and regulations.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
