Applies technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills in support of Carilion Clinics data warehouse and reporting initiatives. Works closely with the Business Analyst to understand information needed by business workflows to provide actionable information to make better business decisions. Works with IT resources to assist in data governance and data quality programs. Designs and applies changes to logical and physical data models in collaboration with Business Analysts to satisfy the reporting and advanced analytic needs of the business, optimized for reuse of data and interoperability of BI solutions. Participates in Joint Application Design (JAD) sessions. Develops and maintains entity relationship models in collaboration with the Business Analyst and Data Engineer's while adhering to technical solution standards and demonstrating flexibility when required. Loads the data dictionary and business glossary with agreed upon terms, metadata, definitions, descriptions, and related values. Independently develops reference materials (application data relationship, BI data models, etc.) for supported data processing technologies to be used for both online and in-person training of other technical staff. Independently manages assigned projects and meets deadlines. Assists Business Analysts with the development of training programs and materials to train end-users and mentor and develop team members. Serves as both a professional and technical mentor to Data Analysts. Proactively identifies areas of improvement (process or technical) and develops plans for associated changes required. Interfaces with clients, vendors, and other teams on multi-faceted projects involving data intelligence. What We Require: Education:

Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information systems, health care systems or equivalent work experience.

Experience:

Minimum eight years' experience in working with enterprise data sources and BI tools in a financial or healthcare environment. Experience using CASE tools such as Idera ER/Studio to design and maintain data models (logical/physical) and metadata.

Licensure/certification:

Valid Virginia drivers' license and dependable transportation. A minimum of three of the following certifications are required: Epic Caboodle ETL Certified Administrator, IBM Certified Solutions Developer - Datastage (v11.3 or after), IBM Certified Specialist: PureData System for Analytics, DAMA CDMP Associate, IBM Certified Data Engineer - BigData, IBM Certified Data Architect - BigData, Epic Chronicles Programmer, Epic Interconnect Programmer, HIMSS - Certified Associate (CAHIMS), HIMSS - Certified Professional (CPHIMS), TOGAF 9 Certification.

Other Minimum Qualifications:

Good organizational skills, analytical, dependable, detail oriented, interpersonal skills, and understanding of the English language (both written and oral). Must have thorough understanding of the 7-layer OSI model. Data profiling and data quality analysis experience preferred. Experience translating business needs into data architecture specifications. Experience supporting application users. Experience with Business Objects, Oracle. or Cognos tools a plus. Familiarity with IBM InfoSphere and IBM data models a plus.
