This position assists in the administration of all US health and welfare benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, FSA, HSA, life and disability. The incumbent is responsible for administering the annual enrollment process and ensuring legal and ERISA compliance of all health and welfare plans.
Essential Functions
- Resolving escalated and sometimes complex employee benefit issues
- Processing enrollments, terminations and life event transactions in benefits administration system
- Reviewing and maintaining all health and welfare plan membership records, reconciling differences, and taking prompt corrective action
- Paying, reconciling, and reporting on all vendor invoices
- Analyzing demographic, payroll and carrier file error reports and resolving discrepancies
- Effectively managing assigned relationships with consultants, carriers, and service providers
- Ensuring compliance with all legal and ERISA requirements concerning health and welfare plans
- Interpreting plan documents and summary plan descriptions
- Processing the filing of annual 5500 reports, summary annual reports, summaries of material modifications, ACA reporting and other compliance activities as necessary, with consultants and legal counsel
- Administering the annual enrollment process, including development of communication materials and ensuring enrollment changes and vendor feeds are properly handled
- Interfacing with HRIS on benefit-related issues
- Interfacing with Site HR, Operations, and Management personnel on benefit issue resolutions
- Administering policies on FMLA, Disability, Vacation, and other Benefits
- Coordinating new employee benefits orientation for Boston and Sales
- Creating and running ad hoc reports from the Benefits system
- Coordinating the educational reimbursement program
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2 years experience related to health & welfare benefits experience, including administration and employee interaction with all phases of benefits in a medium or large corporate environment
- Working knowledge of ERISA, ACA, and other benefit-related legislation
- Experience interfacing with vendors, consultants, outside counsel, and employees at all levels within the organization
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to build strong, collaborative relations and multi-task in a fast-paced corporate environment
- Strong working knowledge of computers and various software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of ADP Enterprise, Reportsmith, and ADPR a plus
- Previous union experience helpful, but not required
- CEBS (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist) certification highly desirable
