POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Benefits Specialist is responsible for providing technical support and daily administration of CVR Energy's employee benefit plans. Provides guidance and assistance to all locations regarding benefit plans and programs; maintains the Benefits emailbox by providing accurate and timely responses to employees. Oversees all aspects of the daily administration of the Company's health and welfare plans and provides back-up for the administration of the Company's 401(k) plans, utilizing both the internal HRIS system and the third-party recordkeeping systems. Meets regularly with the Director Total Rewards to provide updates on benefit-related projects, including but not limited to Annual Enrollment and required government filings. Creates and maintains written documentation of each benefit plan's administration policies, process and procedures.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Business, Human Resources or related field.
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) and/or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in a corporate Benefits Department.
  • Extensive knowledge of health and welfare plan design and administration.
  • Working knowledge of federal laws and regulations pertaining to the compliant operation of employee benefit plans, including but not limited to the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) and the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
  • Advanced Mathematical aptitude, strong analytical skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Well organized with finely tuned attention to detail.
  • Uncompromising integrity and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment to produce results.
  • Fluent in English, oral and written required.
  • Ability to engage with other staff to successfully complete assigned projects with limited general supervision.
  • Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Provides leadership and direct oversight to the administration of company sponsored benefit plans in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable State and Federal regulations, including ACA and ERISA, government regulations and local statutory requirements.
  • Administer employee benefits including but not limited to health and welfare plans, Health Savings Accounts and dependent care FSAs.
  • Ensure proper requisitions, contracts and agreements are on file to support each plan. Ensure plan documents are current and accurate for each plan and filed/communicated appropriately throughout the year.
  • Ensure 5500 filings and other compliance deadlines for health and welfare plans are completed accurately and submitted timely.
  • Make certain that plans are amended as new legislation or requirements are established.
  • May assist in the preparation and submission of data files and internal reporting for 401(k) Plans' Form 5500 filings, annual compliance testing and year-end data collection.
  • Handles benefits inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution for employees. Provides timely and effective delivery of benefit services to ensure that the employee and/or department's objectives are met.
  • Responsible for the administration of open enrollment process including HRIS design and testing, open enrollment communications, training, and auditing of open enrollment data.
  • HIPAA representative and compliance reporting.
  • Ensures FMLA compliance for the Company.
  • Participates in the design of new benefit processes and communications.
  • Partners with other Benefits Specialists to ensure accurate and current employee benefit information is maintained on the Benefits page on MyCVR.
  • Drafts written communications to employees regarding benefit plans and policies.
  • Regularly communicates with supervisor regarding work progress, concerns and questions.
EXPECTED RESULTS
  • Timely and accurate submission of health and welfare vendor files and invoice payment requests; timely and accurate funding transfers.
  • Fully compliant administration of health and welfare plans according to ERISA, the ACA and the Internal Revenue Code and all applicable regulations.
  • Reviews invoices from service providers and prepares funding requests for the Director's approval.
  • Provides accurate and detailed up-to-date information.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance with Federal, State, and in some cases Local government.
  • Serves as subject matter expert for FMLA inquiries, paperwork, and education.
  • Administration of annual enrollment.
  • Excellent customer service for employees.
  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures.
