Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for an Software Engineer – Software Developer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be at Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives.

C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.

This position is for a Software Engineer / Developer within the C2BMC program's Experimentation Laboratory (X-Lab). The selected applicant will work on the X-Lab's Enterprise Services Team and be responsible for software development in the Java language to provide the X-Lab and C2BMC-Global program access to Mission Data Services.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for performing in-depth analysis and technical support of systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support.

Maintains, debugs, and configures related software products

Works from specifications to develop or modify operating systems applications

Assists with design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging, and documentation of programs

Interfaces with other system support groups to resolve problems, set standards, and improve the overall efficiency of the operating system

Designs, codes, tests, and implements tools for operations automation

Works on most phases of software systems programming applications and may require instruction and guidance

Develops solutions to problems of limited to moderate scope and complexity

Work may be closely supervised while following specific, detailed instructions or under general supervision

Contacts are primarily with immediate supervisors, project leaders, and internal to the company or group with infrequent customer contacts

Flexibility and willingness to take on unanticipated tasks

Command and control system application development

Automated test and pipeline development experience

Test-driven development

Experience with Software Integration testing, including developing automated test scripts

Experience with performance modeling

Experience with microservices

Experience with building management tools and pipelines

Strong problem-solving skills

Ability to work independently and possess the poise and flexibility required to work in a highly dynamic environment

Basic Qualifications:

Please note your updated security clearance and IAT/relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of experience, or 6 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.

Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD issued secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance

Ability and willingness to travel up-to 10% to support business needs

DoD 8140 certification at

IAT Level II or higher

(Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA) is required to start

Experience developing applications in

Java

Familiarity with

Java foundation classes and toolkits

Experience developing software for

Unix/Linux

and

Windows

platforms.

Use common software development and management tools such as:

Git

Nexus

JIRA

Confluence

Maven or Gradle

Eclipse

Experience and knowledge of basic software practices such as coding standards and configuration management

Experience with

Python

and

Ansible

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Systems Engineering discipline with 2 years of experience.

Current and active TS/SCI is highly desired

Some limited travel may be required. Occasional off-hours work during special events may be required

Salary Range:

$81,300 - $121,900

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
