Purchasing Analyst

JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for sourcing and executing the procurement activity for raw materials, chemicals and facility supplies.

Primary Responsibility

  • Works closely with management with respects to raw material forecasting.
  • Evaluates raw material forecast submitted by management, sales, and production to suggest adjustments based off changes pertaining but not limited to production, warehousing, and inventory position.
  • Review supplier shipping schedules against the raw material forecast to identify and resolve future potential inventory issues.
  • Assist with sourcing of raw material and packaging supplies by interviewing suppliers to obtain price and specification information.
  • Works with management to troubleshoot and resolve quality problems with suppliers.
  • Assist in managing bulk tank inventory levels to support production as needed.
  • Resolve accounts payable discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Assist with updating inventory spreadsheets and verifying inventory as needed.
  • Coordinate the logistics of raw materials from overseas shipments.
  • Ensures data integrity in the ERP system as well as streamlining transactional elimination opportunities
  • Monitor supplier performance and participate in audit controls for the business unit.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Associates degree in business related field preferred
  • At least 3 to 5 years of purchasing experience or education in a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Chemical and/or manufacturing experience desired.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, specifically data entry and inventory control.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time and be a self-starter: initiative is a must.
  • Proactive communication - monitors raw material supply vs. production schedule and informs production staff of anticipated problems and issues.
  • Detail oriented - accurate entry of data and ability to quickly and accurately identify discrepancies of ordered and received goods.
  • Track record of following up with vendors on orders placed, identifying shipment and other timing delays.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with company personnel and vendors.
  • Comfortable working in Plant/Warehouse environment
  • Other duties as assigned.
