Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The library operates under a team-based structure. Library faculty perform multiple roles, that can include responsibilities in technical services, public services, and/or user instruction. In addition to these responsibilities, this position will also: Provide dedicated support for online students, including integrating Library resources more fully into online courses, expanding our virtual presence to support classes across the curriculum and updating/maintaining digital resources including videos for embedding in Canvas/LMS at students’ point of need (online support); Establish and maintain a Library presence at the Bundy, CMD, ECE and Malibu campuses to support the programs at these campuses, including department-specific resource exploration and holding orientations or multi-class workshops on-site (satellite support); Plan programs and resources to meet the growing needs of our Bachelor’s degree and dual enrollment students (underserved populations); Provide reference service and teach instructional sessions, orientations, and workshops to students and faculty through multiple modalities; Collegially and actively participate in planning processes and contribute to all areas of the library operation, including learning and service assessment; Participate in departmental and college governance activities through committee service and/or other appropriate activities; Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications

Applicant must meet the minimum qualifications of a Library Science faculty discipline at the college. Possess a Master’s degree from an accredited institution in library science, library and information science or the equivalent Must have evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the socio-economic, academic, cultural and ethnic diversity within the community college student population, including students for whom English is not their first language, first generation college students, and students with physical and/or learning disabilities as these factors relate to differences in learning styles. Preferred Qualifications

At least 1 year of experience providing online learning support/instruction including in-depth experience with Canvas or an equivalent LMS; At least 1 year of experience providing library services through different modalities or at a variety of locations; At least 1 year of experience supporting students at the High School and/or upper-level undergraduate level; Awareness of current library trends and emerging library technologies; Dedication to work with and support a diverse environment of students with varying academic preparation, cultural backgrounds, learning styles, and identities; Outstanding interpersonal skills, including commitment to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and other members of the campus community to provide user-centered library services. Starting salaries for Full-Time Faculty are based on a combination of experience (step) and educational (group) achievement. Initial placement is within the starting salary range and a minimum of step 5 within the applicable group. Further advancements are based on longevity and educational growth. This advertised salary range is based on the contracted regular semesters (Fall and Spring). Intersessions (Winter and/or Summer), additional teaching load, and/or substitute teaching may result in increased earning potential. Diversity Statement
