The Director of Allied Health Programs is responsible for the administration and support of the College’s non-credit Allied Health programs. These responsibilities include initial certification classes and continuing education for medical professionals, classes for individuals that wish to pursue registration as a nurse aide or phlebotomist, and specialty continuing education classes for related health care professionals. Essential job duties include: Teaching, hiring, training, and assisting instructors in allied health programs. Maintaining working relationships with the NC Department of Health and Human Services and NC Board of Nursing to ensure training content meets standards. Managing and overseeing every aspect of program development and maintenance. Actively recruiting students to the program. Providing demonstrated evidence of retention efforts for the program. Hiring, supervising, and evaluating adjunct instructors for the program. Submitting a schedule for all coursework for each enrollment period. Submitting accurate records to the appropriate college entities. Overseeing the evaluation and ordering of textbooks for coursework that falls within the program area. Participating in professional development and other relevant activities. Serving as the primary planning leader for his/her programmatic area. Actively engaging and maintaining an external advisory committee for the program. Overseeing and coordinating advising for his/her programmatic area. Keeping an advisee record for all active advisees. Managing budget for his/her area in a timely fashion. Performing internal audits of the program's progress and needs on a timely basis. Attending state, national and local meetings geared toward program growth and enhancement. Keeping program curriculum competitive and up to date. Participating in college-wide committees and functions. Providing positive feedback on student success within the program to the administration and fostering positive alumnae relationships between graduates and the college. Performing all additional duties as set forth by the Associate Dean of Continuing Education, the Executive Vice President of Workforce and Institutional Effectiveness, and the President. Minimum Requirements: Associate Degree in Nursing required. Current, unencumbered North Carolina RN license with at least 2 years of work experience (4000 hours) as a registered nurse. At least one year (2000 hours) of RN experience in the provision of long-term care facility services demonstrated by: working in a long-term care facility licensed as a skilled nursing facility or a skilled nursing facility which is a distinct part of a hospital, OR supervising or teaching students in a long-term care facility licensed as a skilled nursing facility or a skilled nursing facility which is a distinct part of a hospital.
