A law firm seeks a highly qualified Patent Associate with over three years of experience in patent counseling, specifically focusing on preparation and prosecution. This position is based in San Diego, CA, and is part of a prominent Intellectual Property Department specializing in Chemical, Biotechnology, and Pharmaceutical areas. Duties: Draft and prosecute domestic and international patent applications. Prepare legal opinions related to biotechnology and similar technologies. Conduct extensive legal research and provide analysis in patent law. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to protect and manage intellectual property assets. Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of all patent-related activities. Requirements: A minimum of three years of experience in patent counseling and prosecution. Proven expertise in drafting patent applications and providing legal opinions. Education: PhD in Biological Sciences (Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics) or a related field. Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school. Certifications: Current registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Active membership in the Bar of the jurisdiction(s) where the candidate is licensed to practice law. Skills: Exceptional legal writing and research abilities. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Advanced analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. Excellent academic background, ideally with experience in a law firm.
