This position is based at the Carville, LA plant.
Ensures that the financial transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with company accounting policies, GAAP, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).
Complete all SOX, internal and external audit requests within a timely manner.
Month-end closing duties are executed in compliance with established procedures, policies, and deadlines.
Special projects or requests are addressed in a timely manner with prioritizing duties as necessary.
Prepare the Long-Term Plan for fixed and variable plant costs.
Activities
The position will provide accounting services to support the Polystyrene business, including general accounting, general ledger account analysis and reporting duties. Provide SAP support for accounting related issues. Perform cost control and accounting functions for operating budgets. Providing accounting support and assistance to plant and corporate office personnel. Perform audit of finished goods and M&S inventory. Provide oversight of tasks performed by Manila Shared Services Center (SSC) on behalf of the Poly Styrene business. Prepare month-end and year-end accruals for utilities, invoices, sales/use taxes, and other miscellaneous journal entries and close processes. Verify the proper recording of sales, raw material purchases and operating expenses. Prepare monthly reconciliation of GR/IR, accrued liability, and other balance sheet accounts. Work with plant personnel, vendors and SSC (P2P) to clear old items, address issues in paying vendors, ensuring local taxes are properly coded and accrued when necessary. Prepare month end financial reports for PS plant with variance explanations. Distribute to Plant Management and relevant corporate personnel. Provide Plant Management with ad hoc cost reports when necessary. Provide Business Analyst with necessary data for forecasting, budgeting and other analytical duties. Update Budget Worksheet including compiling labor rate calculations for preparation of annual operating budget for the PS business and input budget data into SAP. Collaborate with SSC in inventory activities including reconciliations of inventory to balance sheet accounts, consumables reporting, inventory change, inventory aging, inventory valuation (actualization, FIFO, LCM), and WIP (production by material group). Position requires a bachelor's degree in accounting. 0-5 years accounting experience. Intermediate/advanced knowledge/experience with SAP, Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Power BI (strongly desired). Strong written, oral communication and interpersonal skills. Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship. Additional Information
