Role Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director-level hire to join NLG Capital’s growing Alternative Investments Team. This person will play a critical role in ensuring that NLG Capital’s investments in private assets are appropriately structured to optimize the risk return profile of our investments through an insurance company lens.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Support the development and execution of the NLG Capital’s Alternative Investment Strategy, with an emphasis on income generating asset classes including Direct Lending and Asset Backed Lending.
Lead the structuring and execution of rated feeder funds, private rated notes, and other rated loans and structures, ensuring alignment with the firm’s capital, regulatory, and investment objectives.
Collaborate with legal, tax, and compliance teams to structure investments that optimize tax efficiency, legal, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
Apply deep knowledge of NAIC regulatory frameworks to ensure investment structures comply with statutory requirements, including capital charges and asset categorization (e.g., Schedule BA), under an evolving regulatory landscape.
Work closely with NRSROs to ensure NLG’s private asset portfolio is well understood, including preparing and presenting rating agency submissions across individual opportunities.
Collaborate with colleagues across the firm including, legal, compliance, and accounting.
Minimum Qualifications
7+ years of experience in a private equity, private debt, legal, structuring, rating agency, or insurance asset management role.
Proven track record of evaluating, structuring, and managing complex investment transactions.
Strong understanding of private asset landscape and the evolving insurance regulatory environment.
Strong analytical and financial modeling skills with the ability to assess risk and identify investment opportunities.
Superior communication skills with the ability to effectively present investment proposals to senior management.

Your benefits start day one and are flexible and customizable to your and your family’s specific needs.
The base salary range for this position is 150k-225k. We are open to varying levels of experience.
In addition to base salary, other rewards may include an annual bonus, quarterly bonuses, commissions, and other long-term incentive compensation, depending on the position. National Life offers a competitive total rewards package which includes: a 401(k) retirement plan match; medical, dental, and vision insurance; a company funded wellness account for director and below employees; 10 paid holidays; a generous paid time off plan (22 days of combined time-off for non-exempt employees and exempt employees have discretion in managing their time, including scheduling time off in the normal course of business, but in no event will exempt employees receive less sick time than required by state or local law); 6 weeks of paid parental leave; and 6 weeks of paid family leave after a year of full-time employment.
