Advanced Planning & Scheduling (APS) Analyst
to provide technical and system support for the Advanced Planning & Scheduling system used in the Cable Organization in
Duncan, SC . The core responsibilities are to maintain optimum system performance, deliver timely enhancements that improve scheduling accuracy, and lead new system deployments.
The APS Analyst will work closely with the scheduling and IT teams performing as the key technical resource and liaison for the system's users. To be successful, the Analyst must be a team player with strong communication skills who is versed in using Oracle, SQL, and APS software. They must also have experience and detailed knowledge of production scheduling, manufacturing, and supply chain operations; cable products and their construction; and an in-depth understanding of the various data systems integrated with an APS system.
Responsibilities
Partner with manufacturing, IT, and the APS software vendor to provide prompt support for issue resolution. Collaborate with users and support teams to identify APS system gaps and required enhancements in support of business objectives considering functionality, schedule accuracy, modeling logic, workflows, and data integrity. Coordinate the prioritization of deliverables with IT and the APS software vendor. Rigorously apply project management techniques to insure timely execution from development of the detailed requirements to production release. For new APS system deployments, create the data inputs, build the software model, complete exhaustive end-to-end testing, conduct user training, and create all required outputs. Revise, maintain or create new APS system reports, dashboards, alerts, and other related outputs used by operations, supply chain, production, and engineering. Complete day-to-day system maintenance including managing backups; monitoring and responding to alerts; and identifying data inconsistencies, errors, and bugs that could diminish performance or cause inaccurate schedules and other outputs. Technical degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent with an emphasis on operations and data systems. Bachelor's degree preferred. At least five years of experience as an APS analyst or similar role in the identification, implementation, and execution of IT system improvements in a manufacturing environment. At least three years of experience in a production scheduling role as a master scheduler or similar role. Strong background in the use of ERP systems with a solid understanding of items, BoMs/routes, sales orders, WIP, and inventory transactions. Practical experience working with SQL to bring data sets together from multiple sources for system troubleshooting, analysis, and reporting. Knowledge of the functionality and purpose of APS software with the ability to apply advanced scheduling techniques including constraint management to production scheduling. Experience with material requirements planning including calculation methods, inputs, and outputs used to create material supply/demand information. Background working with inventory management processes including finished goods/consignment, replenishment methods, inventory accuracy controls, and schedule inputs. Practical understanding of shop floor production operations and controls including methods for work-in-process tracking and material traceability as well as the inputs required for scheduling of work. Basic understanding of basic statistics and analytical methods to measure and monitor planning processes and system performance. Experienced in the deployment and use of an integrated APS system preferably Planet Together. Super-user of Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) Order Management and Manufacturing modules. Intermediate or higher user of SQL Server Management Studio for data analysis including the creation of complex queries, tables, and views. Intermediate or higher user of Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services for creating data reports, alerts, and views. Intermediate or higher user of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Outlook, Access, and Word applications. Experience with forecasting, planning, scheduling, and shop floor control systems.
