I&E Technician

Join our team of leaders in control systems integration and engineering. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls Technician with field experience and strong knowledge of industrial automation and control systems. Shermco Systems Integration is an industry leading electrical engineering and control systems integration firm.

Our I&C Technicians work in a fast-paced & dynamic high-tech environment where there are no limits on personal or professional growth. Our I&C Technicians receive additional in-house exposure control systems design to allow for employee development and maximum workforce flexibility.

Job Responsibilities and Expectations:
• Work as an Instrumentation & Controls Technician supporting. control systems integration, instrument & electrical installation, loop checks, startup and commissioning.
• Perform technician work in an industrial environment.
• Troubleshooting control system components, including: PLC hardware, instrument & control signal and power wiring
• Troubleshooting various field instruments, including: transmitters, switches, solenoid valves, control valves, I/P's and similar devices
• Ability to read and interpret P&ID's, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, location plans and other project documents.
• Ability to read and interpret I/O lists, conduit/cable schedules and ISA data sheets.
• Experienced in the installation and calibration of various types of field instrumentation.
• Experience with the use of calibration equipment, including: HART communicators, test pumps & gauges, digital multimeters (Fluke 787/789), RTD/TC simulators, etc...
• Computer literate with extensive knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook.
• Familiarity with the installation of conduit, cabling, stainless steel tubing, instrument stands, etc...

Minimum Qualifications to qualify for consideration, you must meet each of the following minimum qualifications and requirements:
• Graduate of a recognized 2-year technical school with an associated degree in Instrumentation, Electrical Power Technology or similar specialization OR
• Licensed Journeyman Electrician or 5 years of field experience in the field of industrial instrumentation, controls and electrical.
• Experience with low voltage controls.
• Willingness to be hands-on and work in the field alongside our engineers and field technicians.
• Must be able to clearly and effectively communicate in English via verbal and written methods and be comfortable and effective doing so directly to customers and co-workers.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
  • ISA Certified Control System Technican (any level)
  • Trained/certified in fiber optic terminations & testing
  • Experience with ladder logic programming
  • Familiarity with various industrial communication protocols (ModBus, Ethernet, etc...)
  • NCCER Instrument Certifications
