Ontic's Creedmoor, NC, site is home to a number of specialist companies within the Ontic Group, including Firstmark, Twin Commander, and Metro Merlin. With over 1,300 employees across four time zones and seven sites, we have more than doubled in size since 2019 and are continuing to grow at pace.
Our team is looking for a Commodity Buyer to join them. You will report to the Procurement Manager and will have an onsite work structure in Creedmoor, NC.
To be considered for the Commodity Buyer opening, here's what you'll need to bring with you:
- 3+ years of strategic purchasing experience
- Experience in the aerospace industry is an advantage
- Proven negotiation skills
- Strong business acumen, agile in way of working
- Desire to work in a collaborative team towards a common purpose
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business or related field is an advantage
As a Commodity Buyer, you will:
- Identify and engage with internal stakeholders (engineering, regional procurement teams, product management, operations, quality) to capture commodity requirements and ensure supplier qualification and quality - partner with regional teams to efficiently transition suppliers as needed
- Responsible for developing & executing detailed commodity strategy:
- Assess Opportunity for commodity including spend segmentation, commodity maturity, cost drivers, and supply market analysis
- Work with Sourcing to Develop Sourcing Strategy for commodity detailing projects, sourcing levers, timing, resources, and expected benefits
- Accountable for execution of sourcing projects including continuous improvement, consolidation, etc.
- Responsible for defining negotiation strategy including supplier profiles, commercial negotiations targets, defining switching costs, and building Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models.
- Conduct or support negotiations and supplier selection - accountable for contract lifecycle management and compliance
- Responsible for delivering commodity productivity through price negotiations, supporting value analysis/ value engineering projects (VA/VE or i2V) and other continuous improvement projects.
- Support supplier segmentation, Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and quarterly supplier reviews for all strategic suppliers within commodity.
- Support commodity continuity of supply - engage with plants to help local teams efficiently resolve escalated issues.
- Support region/sector NPD Procurement teams through preferred supplier programs and RFQ's.
- Responsible for forecasting, reporting, mitigating, and recovery of commodity inflation
- Lead periodic Commodity Reviews including updated projects, metrics, strategy, and countermeasures
