ACCOUNTING MANAGER

Summary

Performs Manager-level accounting and financial analysis. Assists the Director of Accounting in providing leadership and direction to the Finance department, including responsibility for the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions for all company locations. Requires a strong accounting background, cost accounting knowledge and experience in the preparation of consolidated and consolidating financial statements and financial analysis.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Accounts receivable function

    • Coordinates collection activities for accounts receivable, including customer communications. Responsible for preparation of accounts receivable reports and distribution to Company management. Responsible for communication of customer disputed items to Company management and coordinating resolution.
    • Oversight of invoicing, processing of credit memo's, cash application, and customer account reconciliation in compliance with Company policies.
    • Utilizes lean techniques for continuous improvement within the accounts receivable function.
  • Accounts payable function
    • Responsible for timely processing of vendor invoices and vendor payments in compliance with company policies.
    • Responsible for vendor account reconciliation and resolution of disputed items, in coordination with Purchasing personnel.
    • Utilizes lean techniques for continuous improvement within the accounts payable function.
  • Staff Development
    • Develop goals and objectives for accounts receivable and accounts payable personnel supporting Company goals and employee development.
    • Perform timely performance reviews of accounts receivable and accounts payable personnel to improve department performance and further employee development.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Prepares consolidating and consolidated financial statements for distribution to management.
  • Preparation of monthly financial reports, including the income statement, balance sheet, capital expenditures, and cash flow for review by Company and Corporate management.
  • Prepare and provide general report requests from company management and corporate personnel for results of operations.
  • Works with Operations teams to identify, quantify and report on productivity and cost savings initiatives.
  • Performs ad hoc financial analysis as requested.
  • Leads process improvements and cost reduction projects utilizing lean initiatives within the Finance team while coordinating with the Director of Accounting on project review and verification on projects outside the Finance organization.
  • Prepares the monthly short-term cash forecast for review and approval by company management.
  • Assist the Director of Accounting on month-end financial analysis and review prior to submission to Company management and Corporate.
  • Performs physical inventory processes as needed and inventory reconciliations monthly.
  • Performs floor plan account chassis management processes for chassis inventory reporting, payment processing, and floor plan account reconciliation.
  • Prepares state and local tax filings, including Personal Property and Sales Use Tax.
  • Prepare and accumulate reports for Company management and Corporate personnel, for use in the financial footnotes, tax reporting package, annual surveys, annual operating plan, department and other requested reports.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • CPA (preferred).
  • Able to travel as requested.
  • Good decision making, problem solving and strategic planning skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in stressful environments.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in public accounting and/or private industry.
  • Strong computer and system skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong financial analysis skills.
  • Experience in manufacturing environment (preferred).
  • Experience in cost accounting (preferred).
  • Demonstrated accomplishments in continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Physical requirements: ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds, regular exposure to manufacturing operations, work at a computer for extended periods of time, and have manual dexterity for computer work.
