Job Title: Remote Tax Director
Location: Remote (Company based in Los Angeles, CA)
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Director to join our dynamic and innovative team. This is a remote position, providing the flexibility to work from anywhere while contributing to a Los Angeles-based company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax strategy, compliance, and leadership, with the ambition and potential to advance to a partner role. Business development skills/experience is required. A book of business is a huge plus.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and implement comprehensive tax strategies to optimize client outcomes and minimize liabilities.
- Provide strategic tax planning advice for business transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and other financial decisions.
- Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations, ensuring clients are informed and compliant.
Tax Compliance and Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation and review of complex federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts.
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of all tax returns and related documents.
- Conduct thorough tax research to resolve complex issues and provide well-supported recommendations.
Client Relationship Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, offering expert advice and exceptional service.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, identifying opportunities for additional services and growth.
- Represent clients during tax audits and disputes, providing expert support and advocacy.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team members' skills and knowledge.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless service delivery and knowledge sharing.
Path to Partner:
- Demonstrate leadership, innovation, and business development skills to contribute to the firm's growth and success.
- Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes at the executive level.
- Develop and execute a plan for professional growth, with a clear path to becoming a partner within the firm.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree or CPA preferred).
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in tax strategy, planning, and compliance.
- Proven track record of success in a senior tax role, with leadership experience.
- Expertise in tax software and technology.
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
