The Assistant Director of Engineering is responsible for supporting the Director of Engineering in managing all aspects of the hotel's engineering operations, including the maintenance and repair of the property, systems, and equipment. This role ensures that all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards are met and that the hotel’s mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are well maintained to ensure guest and employee safety and comfort. The Assistant Director will lead a team of engineering professionals and play a key role in developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs.
The salary range for this position is $76,700.00 to $110,000.00. This is the pay range for this position that Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors, such as experience and education. Key Responsibilities: Assist the Director of Engineering in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Engineering department, including supervising engineering staff and contractors. Maintain the hotel's physical assets, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, and building structures. Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations, including fire safety and OSHA standards. Develop and manage the hotel's preventative maintenance programs to ensure minimal downtime and maximum operational efficiency. Support the Director in managing the department budget, controlling operational costs, and ensuring efficient energy usage across the property. Lead and coordinate efforts for repair, maintenance, and installation projects, both large and small, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. Respond promptly to guest and operational issues and provide quick and effective engineering solutions to minimize disruption. Assist with training and developing the engineering team, ensuring high standards of performance and safety. Collaborate with other hotel departments to ensure the smooth functioning of all facilities and resolve any engineering-related challenges. Ensure all tools, equipment, and materials are stored safely and in good working order. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent technical experience. 5+ years of experience in hotel engineering or facilities management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, as well as general building maintenance and repair. Experience with preventative maintenance programs and energy management systems. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively. Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to train and develop staff. Strong communication and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance management software. Preferred Qualifications: Certification in HVAC, electrical, or other relevant technical skills. Experience in luxury hotel or resort environments. Familiarity with environmental sustainability practices in hospitality.
