The Director of Engineering is a crucial member of the hotel's leadership team, responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and improvement of all physical aspects of the property. This includes the building structure, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. The Director of Engineering ensures that the hotel operates efficiently and complies with all relevant safety and regulatory standards. The Director of Engineering plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the hotel, creating a safe and comfortable environment for guests and staff alike. What You’ll Do:

Maintenance and Repairs: Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program to ensure all equipment and systems are in optimal working condition. Oversee reactive maintenance and repairs to resolve any immediate issues promptly. Budget and Cost Management: Develop and manage the engineering department budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost control. Evaluate and recommend cost-effective solutions for equipment upgrades, replacements, and repairs. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including building codes, safety standards, and environmental requirements. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and emerging technologies. Vendor Management: Establish and maintain relationships with contractors, suppliers, and service providers. Negotiate contracts, monitor performance, and ensure quality of work. Energy Efficiency and Sustainability: Implement energy-saving initiatives and sustainable practices to reduce environmental impact. Identify opportunities for green technology adoption and cost-effective energy solutions. Project Management: Oversee capital improvement projects, renovations, and construction activities. Develop project scopes, budgets, timelines, and ensure successful execution. Emergency Response and Safety: Develop and implement emergency response plans, including fire, safety, and disaster recovery procedures. Conduct regular safety inspections and training programs for staff. Technology and Systems Management: Oversee the operation and maintenance of all engineering-related systems, including HVAC, lighting, and building automation systems. Stay abreast of technological advancements and recommend upgrades or new installations as needed. Communication and Reporting: Provide regular updates to the General Manager and executive team on the status of engineering operations. Generate reports, analyze data, and provide recommendations for process improvements. Leadership and Team Management: Provide effective leadership, direction, and mentorship to the engineering team. Recruit, train, and develop staff to maintain a high-performing team. Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. All other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Education and Experience

Proven experience in a leadership role within the engineering or facilities management field. Strong technical knowledge of building systems, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and related equipment. Knowledge of local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental compliance. Excellent project management and budgeting skills. Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities. An understanding appreciation for and commitment to the outdoors, sustainability, and your own personal growth. Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification preferred. HVAC certification or relevant experience preferred. Previous experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry. Familiarity with maintenance software (e.g., Alice). Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and move heavy objects. Stamina to work in a physically demanding environment. Comfort working at heights and in confined spaces. Flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights and weekends.
