Description
The Semel Institute is seeking to hire a full-time SRA I to complete the duties of Project Assistant. In this role, you will be responsible for project coordination, program liaison duties, research study recruitment, participant management, and presentation/report/manuscript/proposal preparation and submission. Other duties of this role can include: Scheduling and set-up of in-person and teleconferenced project meetings between UCLA, project collaborators, and sites. Attending regular meetings between UCLA, project collaborators, and/or sites and taking minutes. Working collaboratively with UCLA, project collaborators, or sites. Preparing summaries documenting the progress and outcome of site visits. Conducting interviews with research participants and reviewing and coding other data collection activities. Conducting structured and semi-structured interviews and surveys in person (at ISAP offices, in the field including incarcerated settings, when needed) or by telephone or video conference. Recruiting, screening, and scheduling prospective research participants for interviews. Collecting urine samples and coordinating urine testing, when needed. Maintaining files/records/databases related to participant status and data collection. Maintaining confidentiality of research participant data and interactions in all communication modes. Assisting with payments of participants. Assisting with presentation/report/manuscript/proposal preparation and submission. Assisting with developing posters and presentations such as preparing tables, figures, PowerPoint presentations, etc. Assisting with literature searches and maintenance of reference databases. Assisting with descriptive data analysis and the submission of journal and proposal submissions on behalf of the PIs, as needed. Assisting with the creation of database(s), data entry, data extractions, screening and coding interviews, other computer tasks, and coding quality control efforts. Assisting with developing and maintaining data platforms, tools, database(s), and files. Assisting with coding open-ended questions using previously developed codes. Assisting in identifying and correcting data errors as well as maintaining documentation of data corrections. Assisting with developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and manuals. Assisting in requesting administrative data from various sources such as the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). Assisting with human subjects’ documentation and applications to Institutional Review Boards (IRB) and Data Safety and Monitoring Boards (DSMB). Arranging and scheduling project-related travel for the research team. Maintaining logs of study materials and equipment to ensure proper tracking of research materials. Preparing and submitting purchase order requests. Complying with HIPAA and confidentiality procedures as they apply to the job. Maintaining project collaborator and site email and mailing lists. Assisting in other research tasks as needed. Conducting general day-to-day tasks, including answering phones and responding to emails, creating presentations, maintaining inventory of supplies, reviewing and verifying survey and/or interview data, and other miscellaneous office support as needed by PIs/project director and associates. Pay Range:
$26.52 - $31.63
Qualifications
Required:
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally, and in writing, with participants, staff, and supervisors. Communicate effectively with people of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with project staff as well as internal and external collaborators. Ability to review and assess data and interview forms for completeness, accuracy, and internal consistency. Organizational skills to maintain records and coordinate other tasks as required. Ability to learn quickly, think logically, and be attentive to detail. Willingness and ability to maintain confidentiality of research participants. Demonstrated accuracy in computerized data entry and applications. Demonstrated knowledge of personal computers and relevant software programs (e.g., Microsoft Office suite, Adobe, etc.). Willingness to travel (domestically) and work occasional evenings/weekends. Dependable car and insurance for field data interviews and attending conferences. Preferred:
B.A./B.S. in Social Science or related field. Experience with literature reviews and summarizing/synthesizing complex journal-level publications. Experience in survey data collection and web-based survey applications (e.g., RedCAP, Qualtrics, etc.). Experience conducting interviews with participants about sensitive topics (e.g., substance use, criminal behavior, high-risk sex behaviors, etc.).
